Chen Chuan turned around. Someone else had appeared in the office, though he didn't know when.
The man seemed to have emerged from the shadows, standing there silently. He didn't look particularly tall and was dressed in a military smock, a short sword in a silver-white scabbard hanging at his waist. He had a rectangular face, dark-complected skin, and a messy thatch of thick hair. His gaze was somewhat sinister.
His appearance matched the file photo from the garrison—he was none other than Fei Tong, the defender of Fortress 285.
Chen Chuan looked at him and said, "Because I knew from the very beginning. This was all your doing, Defender Fei, not some 'abnormality'."
Fei Tong narrowed his eyes. "Is that so? Then how did you figure it out?"
"When I came into the office yesterday, I found this torn-up piece of paper." Chen Chuan took out the reassembled sheet and gestured with it toward Fei Tong.
