Chen Yi summoning Yuan Liu'er was not on a whim. Even before the Annual Examination, he had already made up his mind—to teach her Martial Arts, the Medical Dao, and the Calligraphy Dao. Although cultivating three Daos simultaneously could be slightly unfocused, Yuan Liu'er had enough talent to major in Martial Arts and the Medical Dao. The only reason he included the Calligraphy Dao was to act as a smokescreen, preventing observant people from seeing through his background as her grandmaster.
Seeing Yuan Liu'er in a daze, Chen Yi smiled and explained, "Although the Medical Dao can cure illnesses and save lives, it cannot protect you. If you encounter a tribulation in the future, having Martial Arts by your side will at least give you some ability to protect yourself."
