Feng Yi's gaze met Song Yunzhao's. Looking down at her, he took in the unease, anticipation, and hint of worry hidden in her eyes.
A moment later, Song Yunzhao lowered her head, looking a little self-conscious. She slowly nestled against his chest, a blush spreading from the tips of her ears all the way down her neck.
That radiant blush seemed to spread straight into Feng Yi's heart. In that instant, he felt an emotion he had never experienced before churning within him. He subconsciously held his breath, his fingers curling into a fist. As his fingertips dug into his palm, the faint, sharp pain brought him back to his senses.
'I've already gone this far,' Song Yunzhao thought. 'If the Emperor still doesn't make a move, I can't be the one to start undoing his clothes. That would be unacceptable. It would lack a maiden's modesty. In the future, if the Emperor ever becomes displeased with me, he might look back on this and think my actions were wanton.'
