A sharp pain shot through Old Madam Shi's wrist, causing her to stagger back a few steps. Shi Qi shoved Rong Ju aside and rushed to support Old Madam Shi, calling out, "Mother."
Rong Ju was pushed and fell to the ground.
Seeing Rong Ju on the ground in a wretched state, the gash on her forehead visible, Wanyun went to help her up. "How dare you, the Shi family, bully a daughter of the Rong Family like this?"
Wanyun then turned to the stunned Shi Rou standing off to the side and chided her unhappily, "What are you doing just standing there in a daze? Your mother smashed her head open trying to save you, and what about you? You just stand by and watch as your grandmother beats your mother?"
Only then did Shi Rou belatedly react, hugging Rong Ju tightly. "Mother!"
Rong Ju stroked Shi Rou's head, her voice filled with despair. "Shi Qi, let's get a divorce. I know I shouldn't leave the Shi family when you're in crisis, but I can't bear to stay here for another day!"
