Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Goblin Grunt

"Lin Ye."

"Qi and Blood Index: 10.8. Life Index: 9.6. Punching Force: 216 kilograms."

"Next!"

Lin Ye stepped back from the Force Tester and let out a long breath, his face showing neither joy nor sorrow.

The results were as expected.

Over a hundred years ago, the first Celestial Abyss opened.

The entire world changed dramatically.

Alien races from the stars arrived. Humanity's strongest experts fought back for decades. Although the threat of the Celestial Abyss and these alien races persists to this day, the strongest of humanity can now traverse the river of stars and shatter the heavens with a single punch.

Almost everyone was fighting tooth and nail to become a Martial Artist.

But Lin Ye had no such ambition. After all, he was just a transmigrator from Blue Star who knew how precious life was. He avoided fighting and killing whenever possible.

His aptitude was average. All he wanted was to get into a decent Martial University.

After graduation, he would find a high-end residential complex, apply to be a security guard, and take a forty-year shortcut in life.

A monthly salary over ten thousand, living a life of comfort—that was enough for him.

Based on his current results, achieving this goal would most likely be no problem.

Just as Lin Ye was about to return to the line for the afternoon's regular training, a voice that only existed in his mind suddenly rang out.

[DING!]

[Searching for host's current world...]

[World confirmed!]

[Drawing system model...]

[Drawing complete!]

[Strongest Dungeon BOSS System activated!]

[This system is dedicated to cultivating the host into this world's strongest dungeon BOSS, making all adventurers tremble before the host's might!]

[Identifying host's race...]

[BEEP—Identification complete.]

[Host Race: Goblin (Minion)]

Lin Ye: "???"

He felt himself over.

'Hmm, my nose is normal, not protruding. My ears aren't pointy either.'

'My skin is smooth all over, and it's not green.'

'I'm 1.7 meters tall, not 1.1.'

"Who the hell are you calling a Goblin?"

[Based on a comprehensive evaluation of the host's current attribute values, the host perfectly fits the profile of a Goblin minion.]

[Evaluation: Weak, pitiful, and helpless. Usually appears in groups and is the favorite leveling target for rookie adventurers.]

[Danger Level: Negligible.]

[The host need not feel inferior. Heroes can come from anywhere. Even a Goblin has the potential to become a world-destroying demon king.]

[Please abandon your unrealistic fantasies, face your own race, and prepare to fight for survival and evolution!]

[This system will ensure the host becomes this world's strongest BOSS, one that will never be conquered by adventurers!]

Lin Ye: "..."

He was speechless.

[Newbie mission issued: Familiarize yourself with your panel and skills.]

[Mission Reward: Max HP +10. New Mechanic: Healing out of combat.]

[Failure Penalty: None.]

[Note: This is a tutorial mission designed to help the host quickly familiarize themselves with their power and stop clinging to the foolish fantasy of being human.]

Lin Ye's eyelid twitched. In the end, he couldn't resist his curiosity. He focused his consciousness, and a glowing screen resembling a game interface unfolded before his eyes.

[Host: Lin Ye]

[Race: Goblin]

[Level: Level 1]

[Life Value: 100/100]

[Energy Value: 19/50]

[Physical Strength Value: 31/100]

[BOSS Mechanics: None]

[Current Phase: P1. Other phases not unlocked.]

[Strength: 11]

[Agility: 9.8]

[Endurance: 10]

[Spirit: 5]

Continuing to read, Lin Ye's gaze fell on the most critical part: the "skill tree."

Most entry-level Martial Artists like Lin Ye started with "Basic Fist Technique." After mastering it, they could learn higher-level fist techniques and martial skills.

Or they would pick a suitable weapon and delve deep into its corresponding martial skills.

His skill tree, however, had a peculiar style, reeking of a strong online game vibe.

[P1 Phase]

Unlocked Skill: [Normal Attack: Swing your fist (or weapon) to perform a skill-less attack, dealing 100% damage.]

[Skill Cost: None]

[Skill Cooldown: None]

[Note: This is a BOSS's most basic and most frequently used skill.]

[Thick Skin (Passive), Not Unlocked.]

Just as Lin Ye was studying his panel, a piercing alarm suddenly blared.

[Warning! Warning! High-level adventurer detected approaching!]

[Adventurer Name: Chen Meng]

[Level: LV37]

[Threat Assessment: Extremely lethal! Survival probability below 1%!]

[Combat Recommendation: Run!]

Lin Ye looked up and saw his homeroom teacher, Chen Meng, clapping his hands to end the class-wide placement test. He was walking toward him.

His heart tightened.

It wasn't that he was afraid of his homeroom teacher, but at this moment, an incredibly conspicuous, blood-red "LV37" tag was floating above Chen Meng's head.

It made Lin Ye feel a tangible sense of pressure.

Lin Ye glanced around and found that aside from his homeroom teacher Chen Meng, a genuine Martial Artist, the other students were basically Level 1 like him. Only a few top students had "LV2" tags above their heads.

'Never mind whether this goddamn system can help me get stronger.'

'Just the ability to tell an opponent's strength at a glance is extremely valuable in this Gao Wu Era, where alien races lurk everywhere.'

[DING! Newbie mission complete!]

[You have obtained HP +10!]

[You have obtained a new mechanic: Healing out of combat!]

[Healing out of combat (White): After leaving combat, your Life Value, Energy Value, and Physical Strength Value will recover at a high speed of 10% per second.]

[Note: Pull the boss, jump off a cliff, and try again next time!]

Lin Ye was stunned.

He was all too familiar with this mechanic.

He recalled his university days in his past life, spending day and night raiding with his guild. When a BOSS was pulled out of combat, it would, of course, rapidly regenerate its health.

This mechanic was also very common in other games. For example, if you pulled jungle monsters too far while farming, they would disengage from combat and quickly heal.

He never expected it to happen to him.

Lin Ye opened his panel. The status bar clearly read: [Out of Combat, Recovering at High Speed]!

After a whole morning of cultivation and physical training, Lin Ye had already been feeling exhausted.

But at this moment, he could clearly feel his fatigue vanishing at the speed of light, his energy and physical strength rapidly recovering.

*Hiss...*

'With this mechanic, haven't I basically become a perpetual motion machine for cultivation?'

'As long as no one is fighting me, I'll always be in an out-of-combat state.'

"Lin Ye, think about it."

"Huh?" Lin Ye snapped back to his senses.

He then realized that only he and his homeroom teacher, Chen Meng, were left in the huge training hall.

Chen Meng frowned and said sternly, "This choice concerns your future. Have you been listening seriously at all!"

"The city has received the new documents issued by this year's Great Xia Martial Artist Alliance."

"The cutoff scores to qualify for the national unified entrance exam for Martial Universities have been released. It's a Qi and Blood Index of 13, a punching force of 350 kilograms, and a Life Index of 10.5 or higher."

"You... currently don't meet the standard. And it's less than two weeks until the next school-wide placement test, when the final list of candidates will be submitted. Based on your current Qi and Blood Index, my advice is for you to switch tracks early. Apply for the mecha-martial sequence, or simply drop out of the martial arts track. Your liberal arts scores have always been good."
