They were probably all dead.
If they were still alive and able to send messages, he would have been the one to receive them. Messages from lesser forces, like those from Qi Refining Demons, couldn't be sent to him directly.
Messages from Qi Refining Demons were handled by designated Elders and disciples.
The current Spirit Destruction Hall Master was well aware of how the mysterious Spirit Refiner had destroyed Vortex Cave.
