Three days after the war.
The sky was gloomy. Both sides of the long street in the western district of Golden Stone City were lined with coffins, but even so, there were not enough to hold all the fallen soldiers. Timber flowed endlessly into the city. Carpenter workshops worked day and night, leaving mounds of wood shavings in their wake. The sound of hammers striking wooden boards echoed throughout the entire block.
Most of the coffins contained only clothes, as there weren't enough intact bodies. In the disaster that had swept across the coastline, the vast majority of the fallen had either been devoured by the Heart Eaters or permanently assimilated by that holy yet demonic crystal forest, making their remains impossible to recover.
