Renee Jennings looked at the orange cat trembling in the corner and raised an eyebrow slightly. "What's wrong?"
'This little guy sounded so cocky just a moment ago, but he's actually such a coward.'
The orange cat's little face tensed as he stared at her warily. "How can you understand what cats are saying?"
He had been a stray for so long, and this was the first time he had ever met a human who could communicate with him.
Renee said in a gentle voice, "Don't be afraid. We're not going to hurt you."
Although the orange cat could sense the kindness coming from Renee, his long-held stereotypes about humans made him still a little afraid. "I don't believe you."
"Then what would it take for you to believe us?"
"..."
The orange cat didn't know either.
After a moment, he finally asked, "What did you grab me for?"
He had been having a perfectly good time catching mice when suddenly, some humans just snatched him away. It was baffling.
