The busy days flew by. By the twenty-ninth of the twelfth lunar month, Zhou Lian and Li Xiu had finally wrapped up most of their work. It was past midnight when they returned from their company's annual gala. After quickly washing up, they fell asleep in each other's arms and didn't wake until the sun was high in the sky on the morning of New Year's Eve.
Seeing Sister Fang waiting in the dining room, the two of them didn't stand on ceremony. They quickly ate breakfast, ready to start the day's busy preparations with her. Li Xiu needed to put up the Spring Festival couplets in each of their courtyards. He'd been so busy this year that he hadn't even had time to write them. Fortunately, Professor Xiao and Professor Fan had already written them all out, guided by Sister Fang's memory of couplets from years past. Li Xiu then got in his car and, along with Wang Dongfang who had already agreed to help, drove off to hang the couplets at their other properties.
