He suddenly became much more forward, as if a long-suppressed mischievous streak had been unleashed. Zane Jennings smirked, reaching for the hand hanging at her side.
Seeing his outstretched hand, Erin Lowell frowned. He was being completely inappropriate, leaning in far too close with no regard for her personal space. She raised a hand and gave him a shove.
"Zane Jennings, do you think you can do whatever you want just because you saved me?"
He didn't get angry. When he looked at her, he couldn't hide the smile in his eyes. He deliberately teased her, "Shouldn't I be able to?"
She liked to push people away, but he didn't care. In fact, he was determined to press on.
Erin Lowell froze, not expecting such a retort. She was at a loss for words.
She ignored him and turned away.
"Erin, it hurts."
