The next day, at eight in the morning, the convoy wound its way up the treacherous mountain roads. Though the drive was difficult, the scenery was breathtaking. The morning sun streamed through the windows, bathing the entire vehicle in light.
Erin Lowell sat in the very back, by the side, her eyes closed but not asleep.
She had packed light, bringing only a small black bag containing a few changes of clothes and nothing else.
The relief site was in the countryside. The disaster was somewhat under control, but the situation remained unstable.
The bumpy journey continued for about another half an hour before they reached their destination. Medical tents had been set up outside. Through the blurry windows, they could see doctors in white coats waiting.
Following the others, Erin Lowell got off the vehicle last, her bag slung over her back.
