"Where's Second Sister-in-law? Hasn't she come back yet?" she asked as she ate.
"Second Aunt went to buy mustard root for pickling. She'll be back soon," Fang Ping said, unwrapping a piece of candy herself. But instead of popping the whole thing in her mouth, she bit off half with her tiny teeth and stuffed the other half directly into Zhou Shumei's mouth. "Mom, you try some too. It's delicious."
"Oh, you silly girl. It's just one piece of candy; you don't have to split it," Zhou Shumei grumbled, but a huge smile spread across her face.
"What's a mustard root? How do you eat it?" Yuan Si had never had it before, but her interest was piqued the moment she heard it was food.
"You pickle it to eat as a side dish. My mom's stir-fried mustard root is delicious! When we get home, I'll have my mom stir-fry a plate for you," Fang Ping said with a touch of pride.
"Okay. If it's good, I'll come buy some too," Yuan Si agreed with a nod.
