Zoe Pierce walked over and, just like that, reached out and wrapped her arms around him.
"Miles, let me hug you."
The words caught in his throat, which suddenly felt dry.
His hands hung limp for a few seconds before he raised one to cup the back of her head. "Don't be afraid. It's all over now..."
Zoe Pierce almost wanted to laugh. They all thought she was the one who was scared.
'That's not it at all.'
'It's that I now have a much clearer understanding of how important they are.'
She took a few more deep breaths, silently counting to ten before releasing her hold on Miles's waist.
"I know. You're the ones who should stop worrying about me."
Zoe Pierce didn't know that her one simple hug had made every Alpha's heart clench.
The color hadn't yet returned to her face, making them wish they could just pull her into their arms and never let go.
They had to clench their jaws to rein in the fierce wave of emotion.
