Jane was a little curious, so she floated over to take a look at the bubbling concoction.
To be honest, the stuff didn't look very appetizing. It was dark and murky, like some kind of traditional medicine.
But everyone in line had a dazed look on their face. They stood obediently, took the murky liquid, and gulped it down.
After drinking it, they were pushed forward again.
Jane wasn't really sure where they were all headed.
She followed the crowd, walking straight ahead. After passing through a deserted street, they arrived in front of a massive palace.
The palace actually had a certain childish whimsy to it. Atop the classical, ancient-style architecture hung very delicate pink lanterns.
The stone lions standing guard on either side of the entrance were also draped with pink silk ribbons. The whole scene looked like it had been meticulously decorated by some little girl.
Jane found it rather peculiar. She followed the crowd through the reddish-brown main gates.
