Wen Ying reached out and touched the chair.
A giggling sound—"Hee hee hee... hee hee hee..."—filled the room. Though no one was visible, the sound was all-pervasive, seeming to bore right through a person's body.
"Little White is fine. Don't worry," Wen Ying reassured Kong Jian.
"Come on out, little one."
"Hee hee hee... The pretty lady is so clever."
A well-dressed boy walked out from a small side door. He was smiling as he looked at Wen Ying. "Are you here looking for her, pretty lady?"
He pointed a finger at Little White.
"A big pretty lady and a little pretty lady... so, who are you?"
The boy gave Kong Jian a troubled look, seemingly unable to understand why two pretty ladies would bring a dim-witted little monk with them.
"Hey, little monk, do you know how to subdue demons?"
The boy asked in a taunting tone.
Kong Jian's expression remained impassive. "No. But I will kill you."
