Chu Yao slept until a little past ten in the morning. When she woke up, no one was beside her.
After washing up and heading downstairs, she heard Lu Xize on the phone just as she reached the landing. "Yeah, come pick me up now. See you in a bit."
Chu Yao walked down the stairs. Just as she did, he hung up the phone. When he turned and saw her, Lu Xize's gaze instantly softened. "Awake?"
Chu Yao nodded, walked over to him, and stood on her tiptoes to feel Lu Xize's forehead. "Mmm, your fever's gone. Do you still feel awful from the cold?"
Lu Xize took the hand she had placed on his forehead, brought it to his lips, and kissed it gently. "I'm fine now."
Lu Xize's voice was still a little hoarse, but he seemed much more energetic.
"Yaoyao, I need to make a trip to Hong Kong."
Lu Xize led Chu Yao over to the dining table. After they sat down, he poured her a glass of juice and spoke.
"To Hong Kong?"
"Mhm, something came up unexpectedly over there."
