"Senior?"
Lu Xize's voice on the other end of the line seemed to deepen, carrying a hint of confusion.
Chu Yao, who knew him so well, could sense the sour tang of jealousy wafting over even through the phone.
A smile tugged at the corners of her lips. If she weren't on the phone in front of Shen Yi, she wouldn't have minded explaining the situation in detail to Lu Xize to keep a certain someone from getting so jealous so quickly.
But explaining things in front of Shen Yi would be more than a little awkward.
Of course, Chu Yao wasn't so tactless. She simply said, "He's a senior from my university. He just got back, so I'm treating him to a meal."
Chu Yao's voice was gentle. Her words didn't seem much different from what she'd said before, but Lu Xize still clearly caught the subtle distinction.
Before, she had said, "We're having a meal together." Now, she was saying, "I'm treating him to a meal." The situation was the same, but the subtle implication was entirely different.
