-Could you tell us your name, sir? All of us must know who brought us here.
-My name is Rifat.I am Georgian like all of these boys here,Come on,let's have lunch with the governor! We are all starving.Selim, you must walk forward with me,your father and sister.
-Why?
-Because you are the peculiar gift for the governor from your father-Mustafa.Now,come forward you three!
Mustafa held Selim and Safiye's hands and walked towards Rifat. When they came near to him, other boys followed them to the governor's palace.Soon, all of them passed the broad courtyard and entered inside the palace.Selim was attentively observing its interior. He looked behind him and spotted the trilobed arch .Each lob of this arch was full of 3 flowers:daisy, hyacinth and pink rose.Afterwards,he looked red walls on the right and noticed several Arabic letters merged among each other.
-What is this?
-This is the name of the governor written in Arabic calligraphy. Look on the left, you will definitely like it.
Selim looked on the left and saw 3 spread-winged eagles on the green wall. They were flying above 3 green mountains. There were distinct sorts of trees drawn on these mountains.Selim found this wall especially stunning.
-What is this hall used for?
-This is the hall for official meetings. When our governor meets the new mamluks brought from Istanbul,he personally hosts them here with Georgian and Circassiam dishes.Look over there,do you see those servants? They are here to put tables and chairs. Then, the cooks will serve the meals. As soon as the preparation is over, the governor will honour us.Untill then, don't sit at the tables. You won't be awaiting for him for a long time anyway.
Several minutes passed. The servants entered inside the hall. They quickly put tables and chairs on the floor and then the cooks laid the tables. The boys were craving their native dishes.Just the scent of them was enough for them to quench their longing for their homeland.
