[IRIS POV]
'Did he just say that?' I asked my wolf. I didn't trust my own ears. Did Alpha Rufus actually acknowledge me as his daughter?
But when I looked around, I could only see the shell-shocked expressions of other pack members who were just as stupefied as I was about this turn of events. Beta Basil had gone pale, and Yvette's hair was hanging over her face, as though she dared not look anyone in the eye.
So, either Alpha Rufus did declare I was his daughter, or we were all suffering from the same mass auditory hallucination. Which was highly unlikely, since only Martin was injected with a dangerous cocktail of drugs.
"Alpha…" Beta Basil's mouth flapped open uselessly like a fish on land. "She's… She cannot be… She's a wolfless girl… No way…"
