My poor daughter was in the dungeons, and it was all the infernal wretch's fault.
I went to see Rufus earlier to plead for leniency, but my attempts fell on deaf ears. He only told me that he would allow me to bring in Yvette's belongings to make her stay comfortable. Left with no other choice, I packed up my daughter's prized possessions and headed to the cell.
There were already warriors present guarding the cell. When they saw me, they merely nodded in acknowledgement. At least they knew how to respect me, unlike those fiends from that brat Martin's family.
Past them, I could see the forlorn figure of my daughter, who was huddled against the corner of the cell.
"Yvette!" I called out. "I'm here!"
My poor baby girl didn't even look up. Her head was buried in her arms, and it was as though she hadn't heard me at all. I felt my heart ache for her.
I rushed forward, intending to, but they held up a hand, stopping me in my tracks.
