At the hospital.
"Has he returned?" Morgan asked.
"Yes, he's back."
"What did he say? I haven't been able to reach him."
"He said there was a minor issue he had to handle. Someone had been following me since I left the hotel."
"What? Who? Does he know who it was?"
"Just a stranger. He used to be a staff member at the company where I worked. Now that I'm in China, there might be some people who still haven't settled their issues with me," Catherine explained.
"So… I don't need to fire him?"
"Yes. Not for now," Catherine said softly. "I need to prepare for tonight. I'm hanging up."
The call ended. Catherine continued walking through the crowded hospital parking area and headed toward the emergency room. That was where the man was being treated.
When she arrived, she saw that Roman was already conscious, sitting at the edge of his bed, looking confused.
"You're awake…"
"You…" Roman groaned slightly as he spoke for the first time.
