Chapter 51 - Chapter 51-Five days of silence

The mansion was unusually quiet.

Not the peaceful kind.

The heavy kind.

The kind that presses against the chest.

Hazel had been unconscious for five days.

Doctor Rose had checked her vitals repeatedly.

"She is exhausted," Rose had told Ryan.

"The awakening drained too much energy at once."

Ryan had not responded.

He simply stood beside the bed.

Watching.

Always watching.

Hazel was placed on Ryan's large bed inside his private room.

Clean white sheets.

Modern dark silver furniture surrounding the space.

Ryan had insisted she stay there.

Not in the medical wing.

Not in guest rooms.

Here.

Where he could watch her breathing.

Five days.

Venom was unstable.

Blade was silent but tense.

Ralph paced inside his consciousness like a trapped predator.

Ryan had not slept properly.

Pack members felt it.

Alpha aura pressure fluctuated slightly across territory.

Nick visited once.

"Alpha," Nick said quietly, "you need rest."

Ryan replied simply:

"I cannot rest if she stops breathing."

Nick did not argue.

Liam visited briefly.

Checked territory stability.

Left quietly.

Annabelle came and sat beside Hazel's bed for almost an hour.

Talking softly.

About random things.

Like she was trying to wake her friend with normal conversation.

Gloria visited on the third day.

She stood beside the bed and placed a soft hand on Hazel's forehead.

"She is strong," Gloria said gently.

Ryan did not respond.

Gloria continued softly.

"She will wake."

Ryan answered quietly.

"I know."

Gloria looked at him carefully.

"You are unstable."

Ryan did not deny it.

Because she was right.

Mila did not visit.

Ryan knew.

Hazel's best friend Klara visited once.

Stayed silently.

Regret was heavy in her eyes.

Then left.

Now it was the fifth day.

Ryan sat on the chair beside the bed.

Speaking quietly.

Not commanding.

Not desperate.

Just talking.

"You are stubborn," he said softly.

"You push yourself too far."

Pause.

"You should not awaken power you cannot control yet."

Silence.

Hazel's chest rose and fell slowly.

Stable.

But weak.

Ryan continued speaking.

"I do not want you to become something that destroys yourself."

His fingers hovered slightly above her hand.

Not touching.

Waiting for permission even in unconsciousness.

"I almost lost control when you collapsed."

Pause.

"Venom wanted to destroy the territory looking for the Devourer."

Silence.

Then very quietly:

"Ralph wanted to guard your body."

Hazel did not respond.

But her fingers twitched faintly.

Ryan noticed immediately.

His eyes sharpened slightly.

"Hazel?"

No response.

But her breathing changed slightly.

Slower.

He leaned closer.

Voice softer now.

"Mate."

The word carried something deeper than command.

Something almost fragile.

Inside him—

Venom growled softly.

Blade watched silently.

Ralph pressed closer to consciousness.

Then—

Hazel's eyelashes trembled slightly.

Very slowly.

Like waking from deep darkness.

Ryan's hand tightened slightly on the chair arm.

"Hazel," he said again.

Low.

Careful.

Patient.

Like speaking to something precious that might break.
