"You!" The young man's voice thundered through the room as he sprang to his feet. "Mother, he is the same man who killed my Hollow!"
Silence descended upon the room.
Luke rolled his eyes and glanced toward Dart, who stood there looking utterly startled. Baldon and Thea were no better, their expressions betraying the fact that neither had expected an accusation to be thrown at him so abruptly.
"You..." The lady slowly rose from her seat. Her gaze settled on Luke, sharp with disbelief and anger. "You killed my son's beast? The pride of our family?"
Luke merely shrugged. "I consider no hunt different from another. That wolf happened to be preying on me."
"That's a lie!" Virj shouted. "Hollow never attacked anyone! He was only catching butterflies. You saw his beautiful fur and decided to hunt him down!"
