Chapter 21 - Chapter 021: A New Rune-Proficient Caster… Probably

After Kariya left—

"Anything else?" Baiye asked Morgan in the house.

"If I said no," Morgan replied, "would you leave again immediately?"

"Time is life, witch," Baiye said. "There's nothing urgent here, so I might as well go grind in another world. At least the food there still gives me benefits… but from your tone, something did happen?"

"It did." Morgan looked at his chest. "I want—"

"No. You don't."

Baiye cut her off instantly.

She'd already moved from "slicing" to "just draw a tube of blood," but Baiye had spent seven years being careful. He didn't trust modern magi with his blood, much less an Age of Gods witch who could hand-build homunculi.

The only time he'd ever handed over blood was to Kuonji Alice—who used it to craft a personalized PLOY: a one-time major buff keyed to Baiye alone. And Baiye had kept it on his person ever since, never letting it leave his control.

"What a shame," Morgan sighed, then continued. "The thing we discussed last night—there's a result."

"Last night… already?"

Baiye was genuinely shocked.

Yesterday, after Morgan finished her updates, Baiye stayed to chat. The conversation drifted to something from the Fifth Grail War: Caster Medea, after analyzing the Grail system, managed to summon an additional Assassin.

Morgan found the concept interesting and said she'd look into it.

Baiye didn't doubt her capability—both were famed witches; Medea could do it, Morgan should at least be able to reproduce the logic.

But he hadn't expected results overnight.

"That Matou magus was talented," Morgan said, tapping several books taken from the Matou library. "Given how far he took 'the record bands of boundaries.' But mostly, we're currently inside an active Grail War. If the Greater Grail wasn't already running, turning theory into reality would take longer."

"So if we want, we can start a new summoning right now?"

"Yes," Morgan nodded. "If you don't have a specific target—or a prepared catalyst—then yes, we can."

"Then let's do it."

Baiye swept his hand. Mana surged, clearing space for a summoning circle.

He didn't have a specific Servant in mind, but he did have a category.

Morgan watched him assemble a "relic" on the spot: twenty-four rune stones, each carved with one rune, plus a blank stone symbolizing "unknown."

"For someone who was 'ordinary' before summoning me," Morgan said, eyebrow raised, "in some ways you're more like a proper magus than most Masters."

"If we're not desperate for combat power," Baiye said, "why gamble? I'd rather summon someone who can clearly help me."

He placed the twenty-five stones inside the circle.

"Will this illegal summon conflict with the official Servants?"

"No," Morgan said. "When I activate it, I'll add my own interpretation. If nothing goes wrong, the summoned Servant won't even be counted as part of the official roster."

"Perfect."

Baiye clapped. "Make it a Caster like you. That should increase the odds of pulling a rune expert 'teacher,' instead of some rune-using brute. Oh—since you also know runes, we're not going to summon another you, right?"

"..."

Morgan stared at him without speaking.

"Cough—just kidding," Baiye said.

Morgan stepped to the circle and activated it without formal incantation.

Light flared—just like Baiye's previous summoning experiences.

A figure appeared.

Red eyes. Red-violet hair. A purple-black outfit and a veil over her face.

And in her hand—

A crimson spear.

Baiye stared, then looked to Morgan.

"You're sure you summoned a Caster?"

"…At least that's how the other side answered me," Morgan said, hesitating.

"Fine."

Baiye was still satisfied—rune teacher objective accomplished.

Then he remembered something else.

"…Wait. If I'm not wrong, this one is alive, isn't she?"

"Where is it written that living beings can't respond to a summon?" Morgan countered.

Baiye: "…."

He… couldn't actually refute that.

Then—

He narrowed his eyes at Morgan.

"Come to think of it… your legend never explicitly states your death, does it? Your true body isn't still hiding somewhere in the Sea of Stars, is it?"

Morgan smiled faintly.

"You tell me."
