Chapter 20 - Mental and Physical Training

Miles mind wandered back into he radio, something was strange in Fort Lazaro..

His mind kept wandering around about it, until he fell asleep. Where, it was consumed by training he was having for 2 days now.

Each time, he had returned. He grew sharper and his aim became precise, that place has something that enhance his learning speed and with the time flow entirely different.

He was learning in a breakneck speed, the muscle memory embedding itself in hours instead of months, reflexes sharpening until they felt like second nature.

Even his understanding of tactics deepened, as if the space itself was feeding him knowledge he'd never studied.

As he finished a final drill, taking down three moving targets in under two seconds, the space began to dissolve like mist.

- Progress: 89%.

With those, final words appearing in his eyes.

He woken up, in a new day. The sunlight streamed through the curtains, painting stripes across the floor-he'd slept through the night, waking to a new day.

The air in Unit 103 was cool and still, and outside, he could hear the faint shuffle of Cursed moving through the streets as they sought shelter from the rising sun.

He pushed himself up, testing his limbs, every movement felt effortless, precise.

When he lifted his M17 from where it lay beside him, the weight felt familiar as his own hand.

After that, he headed to the kitchen first. The fridge still held usable food, canned goods, some hard cheese, and a few eggs.

He ate quickly, pairing it with water from the tap-surprisingly, the supply was still running.

Next came a hot shower, the water washing away the sweat and grime of days spent fighting.

He felt more grounded than he had since everything began.

When he was done, he pulled on fresh clothes he'd found in the closet and went to the living room, clearing the coffee table to make an open space.

He was gonna train, he had since a lot of exercise. He even tried once, but it was hard so he eventually gave up.

He stood in the center, feet shoulder width apart, and began to move through a series of stretching and exercise.

He stretched his hand to side, rolling his arm backward and forward.

After warming up, he dropped into a push-up position.

As a complete beginner, he'd expected to struggle, but to his surprise, his body moved with a strength he didn't know he possessed. He completed 15 push-ups in a single set, his form solid and steady.

With each subsequent set, it grew harder the muscles in his chest and arms twitching with effort, burn building deep in his fibers. But he pushed through, finishing three more sets before his body finally gave out.

He collapsed onto the floor, breathing heavy but grinning. He was not done, there's more to come.

He pushed himself up and dropped into a plank, holding it for nearly two minutes before his core began to shake.

Next came squats, deep, controlled movements, 20 per set.

Then high knees that made his legs burn, followed by mountain climbers that left him gasping for breath.

He moved through each exercise with focus, pushing past every point where his body screamed to stop.

Even as his muscles trembled and sweat dripped down his face, he kept going until he collapsed onto the floor; his chest heaving, muscles screaming.

He lay there for minutes, breathing hard but grinning.

Every part of him ached, he may not feel it yet. But, he surely grew stronger as time passed.

After an hour of rest, he armed himself up, strapping on his tactical vest, loading extra magazines, and tucking the first-aid kit into his pouch.

Then, holding his M17 steady, he stepped out into the corridor.

It was devoid of any Cursed, he'd cleared the remaining ones the day before. This time, his goal wasn't fighting.

He was heading upstairs, to the units he'd left untouched during the initial clearing, to the people he'd spotted but couldn't reach back when he was still learning the basics.

And after that, he planned to inspect every room thoroughly, to check the condition of completion for the mission he'd been given, to see what other secrets the building held. With his goal set, Miles strode forward and headed for the stairs ahead
