RYKER GRAVE
FUCK! What the fuck is wrong with me? I cursed.
Don't get me wrong, I don't regret any bit of what just happened, neither am I remorseful.
I just think I should keep my distance now that I don't understand what does this fucking mate bond mean.
Somehow, it feels like it is me, wanting her, craving to touch her and caress her.
That's a problem. I shouldn't. Because this is all a game to me.
She is just a game I must play. I can't play her well if I am not in control.
I strode to the left side of the hallway back to the main entrance of this fucking prison. Sometimes I think of leaving the pack house and just going completely rogue but I have so many people outside who want to kill me but they fear the Alpha too much to take action.
If word ever got out that I had gone rogue, they would all flood to have my head decapitated. Spinless bastards.
"Did I just see you coming out from your father's bride room," I heard a familiar voice say from behind me and I turned around to see him staring at me with that cocky smile that he always had on.
"Are you now stalking me, Cole?" I asked, crossing my arms against my chest.
"You wish," he grinned, "I was looking for you and Nia said that she had seen you going to the West Wing."
Nia, the gossip. Of course.
"Please tell me you are not hitting on your father's bride?" He wasn't asking. Cole knew me. Sometimes I believe he knows me much more than Rowan does.
We had all grown up together, although Cole was orphaned at a young age and left in front of the pack house we believed he was descendants of one of soldiers who had died in war. My father took him in and trained him to be one of the strongest.
He had natural fighting skills and somehow he and I became close. He was also close to Rowan but he and I shared a common detest for authorities, he wasn't loyal to my father even though he had trained him. He was loyal to me. I had seen him take countless falls for me and that had solidified our friendship to the core.
"Do you want me to lie to you, Cole." I responded, moving to the left side of the room, leaning against a wall. Cole came closer and stood beside me. His eyes scan the room. He was that vigilant and had the eye of an owl.
"You are playing with fire my brother, your father don't take betrayal likely," he said in a low tone.
"Relax, I am just playing with her, I don't have any intentions to sleep with her,"
"Uh-hmm?"
"I am serious," a deep part of me was already calling my bluff just like he was.
I wasn't sure why I hesitate to tell him that the moon goddess has dealt her best hands and made her my mate.
"Ryker you know I have always supported you, I would take a bullet for you,"
He actually meant those words, he had gotten in front of me when one of my many adversaries had tried to gun me down, though the bullet had ricocheted. Only grazing his arms. It had proven how loyal to a fault he was.
"Yeah, yeah you will never let me live down that fact," I teased with a half smile.
He grinned, "Well I did save your sorry ass, you owe me your life,"
"I will build a tower for you, have it stamped on the stone,"
We both burst into a hearty laughter. One that I had not had in a while.
He exhaled, letting the laughter flow away, "I am serious, Ryker. Stay away from her. I heard she is innocent,"
I glanced up at him and met his gaze, " What do you mean by she is innocent?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.
Cole glanced around the room again to make sure no one was around. "I overhead the Alpha talking to Beta Marcus, he said she is a virgin,"
My eyes widened as the word skinned in.
A virgin.
That's a lie. It can't be.
"That's shit," I called out, "You know how all this young girls like calling themselves Virgin but ain't,"
"Nah mehn, I think she is legit, haven't you see how innocent she looks, she practically looks like an angel that fell from the sky and landed on earth,"
She did look like an angel, I thought it was an act. Her acting all innocent. Trying to play hard to get but deep down couldn't wait for me to thrust into her like all of them.
I have been with countless women, I know it wasn't a thing to be awarded a trophy for but I have seen it all. The girls who acted all innocent yet once you get them alone they turn into vultures. Those are the ones who get all freaky and want you to do all kinds of things and stuff them up with everything.
I thought she was one of them. Playing the innocent bride.
Could I be wrong?
Nah, I am never wrong.
"You are so gullible, Cole. It's sweet. That's how you thought Nia was a virgin…"
He punched me hard on my arms, "Ouch" I cried out in a chuckle.
"She had me fooled, she played me, you know that,"
"Oh poor you." I said taunting him.
"But….." he trailed off and I followed his gaze and it fell on Rowan at the far end of the hallway with Lila, kissing her goodbye right before she took to the exit.
"Talking about bitches who act all innocent," I murmured.
"She is the queen of them all, I don't know why Rowan can't see through her act,"
"He likes playing the good guy, he believes in good and bad. If someone isn't outrightly bad then they are good,"
"What a…." He trailed off again as Rowan strode towards us, slowly approaching us. "Does he knows that you are trying to sleep with your father's bride or should I tell him,"
"Don't you dare, and I not trying to sleep with her,"
Rowan approached us and he had an unreadable expression.
"Hey mehn," Cole greeted, "Why didn't Lila come say hi to us,"
Rowan gaze fell on me, "She is trying to avoid Ryker referring to her as a bitch,"
I choked out a laugh, "Oh come on, she should know it is all fun and game,"
"Yes, that is what it always it is for you, fun and games,"
And that was when it hit me, the unreadable expression finally seeping through the rage in his eyes and I remembered the interaction we had in the dining earlier.
"What's going on, what has Ryker done this time?" Cole asked, staring at me and Rowan simultaneously.
"Cole, can I talk to my Brother alone" it wasn't a request, It was more of an instruction. Rowan was an easy going person but whenever he started acting all high and mighty, he came off as overbearing and not so much of the 'Night and shining armor' persona he had built for himself.
Cole raised his hands in surrender pulling himself from the wall and without any other word strode off, I crossed my hands against my chest, bracing myself.
"Ryker, we need to reject her, this is not up for discussion," his voice wasn't harsh nor was it soft.
"No, I won't," I said firmly.
He sighed out in frustration, so much for high and mighty. "What do you want to get out of this, we will suffer. She will suffer,"
"Then let her," I interrupted him, my voice cutting through. I pulled myself from the wall and took a step forward, we were the same height, my eyes darted at his.
"I don't give a fuck if she suffers,"
"All you want is for him to suffer?" He retorted, it was more of a rhetorical question because he already knew the answer.
"Mom died because of his fucking fated mate, I will make sure he dies too because of her. I promise,"
