Lin Yan silently thanked God in his heart that he had not reported the discovery of the starship.
According to the law, anyone who discovered ancient relics or unknown ships could claim a reward. The value depended on what was found—and Lin Yan was very sure of one thing:
If the government discovered this intelligent ship, they wouldn't reward him.
They would silence him instead.
An intelligent ship like Star was not something the public should ever know about.
Star noticed his unusual silence.
"Master Lin Yan, your brain activity has increased by 37%. Are you anxious?"
Lin Yan quickly shook his head. "Nothing. Just… thinking about life."
"Life analysis complete," Star replied seriously. "Conclusion: your life is messy."
Lin Yan chose to ignore that comment.
Several hours later, Lin Yan returned to his mining team. The docking area was unusually lively—people laughing, shouting, and arguing over small things as usual. The familiar noise made him feel strangely relieved, as if nothing in the universe had changed.
The team leader suddenly walked over and patted Lin Yan's shoulder heavily.
"Lin Yan," the man said with a grin, "have you thought about getting married?"
Lin Yan nearly choked on his drink. "Married?"
"Yes!" the team leader continued enthusiastically. "My little cousin just reached marriageable age. She's very beautiful, hardworking, and strong. Perfect for you!"
The surrounding team members burst into laughter, some even whistling.
Lin Yan felt his face heat up instantly. "Captain… I'm only eighteen!"
"That's even better," the team leader said seriously. "Young men recover faster."
Lin Yan opened his mouth, then closed it again, completely defeated.
Inside his mind, Star calmly added,
"Master, statistical analysis suggests your survival rate will increase if you accept the proposal. Emotional damage, however, may be permanent."
Lin Yan decided right then that keeping Star quiet was sometimes a matter of survival.
