"Well, according to the test results you are currently 3 weeks pregnant", he said while carefully studying her expression.
What he said shattered her world and her expression changed rapidly from shock to panic then joy.
Even though she had no recollection of what had happened to her and who the father of her child might be, she knew that she already lived the baby and wanted to be a mother.
already love and want this baby. She had already determine that would try her best to be a good mother and also pay the role of a father to her baby.
Then, she suddenly asked the question that popped into her head.
"How did I end up here?"
"Who brought me here?"
"When i was coming for my night shift, I decided to use an alleyway shortcut and found you lying on the ground in a dark alley with two men hovering over you.
When I called out, running in your direction, one grabbed what now seems to be your purse and the other, a suitcase and took off. I brought you here but discovered you had nothing we could use to identify you."
He said all this calmly and with a very serious face.
"A dark alley?" A dive run through her as she thought about the countless possibilities of things that could have happened to her had he not shown up
"Luckily, I took that route. It had been a while since I passed that route but I needed to arrive at work earlier than usual due to contingencies."
"Thank you so much for helping me. I owe you for this favor ".
"How long have I been out now?"
"It's been three days now. Since you are up now, I am sure you are hungry so I am going to have a nurse bring you something to eat."
With that, he signals to the nurse standing in the corner who had been forgotten until then. She immediately nodded and walked out of the room.
He soon followed after.
When he left, countless thoughts run through her mind as she leaned lower into the bed. With her left her slickly clenched with her thumb brushing over her ring finger — an unconscious movement— and her lips bitten logout by her, she pondered, her heartbeat slightly irregular. Perhaps due to stress or fear.
She hirers calmed down when she thought about the baby she was carrying. Grateful for it, for her survival and determined to strengthen herself so that she could protect her baby from whoever was targeting her and four whatever reason.
After what felt like an eternity but was in fact twelve minutes, the nurse came in carrying a tray full of food and a plastic rubber.
On smelling the scent of the food, her stomach growled loudly. Blushing slightly, she adjusted herself upright as the nurse put the down down before her and adjusted the hospital bed.
She readily uncovered the containers to find a bowl of tomato soup, three slices of bread, a plate of cut watermelon There was a bit of a mix of sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs and a small side of salad.
Just as she finished enjoying the food, someone cleared throat.
Standing in front of her was the Dr. Oliver and he went on prescribing some prenatal vitamins to her and on the benefits it provided as well as when to take them.
"Initially, I had wanted prescribe for you some drugs for your headache but now I know you are pregnant, all I can say is make sure to avoid stress and be careful especially within the first three months.
"You are fine enough to be discharged", he said looking at her.
" But I'm sure you don't know where to go. Your clothes and prenatal vitamins will be brought to you by the Nurse Maria, she's the one who brought you your meal".
The nurse Maria soon came back with her change of clothes as well as some undergarments.
She was removed from the IV drip, for real this time, and was finally free to move about.
She went to the bathroom with her clothes for a slightly long but definitely relaxing shower, and wore her clothes, admired herself in the mirror.
"Beautiful", she nodded in admiration as she eyed herself.
She noticed her hair was slightly uneven and muttered that she needed a haircut.
She walked out of the room, Strolling in the halls as she looked everywhere.
After roaming, just as she was about to head back, she noticed the Doctor Oliver standing at a corner talking on the phone with a small smile and a longing look in his eyes.
I felt a little jealous because he had someone with him.
She somehow felt a slight pang in her heart as she imagined herself with a man raising their child together.
All at once, a pair of beautiful brown eyes flashed in her mind, then she felt a sharp pain in her head. As she rubbed the side of her head with he left hand, she remembered those eyes.
The thought of those eyes made her strangely excited and giddy. She felt like there were butterflies in her stomach.
The feeling of the butterflies in her tummy almost made her puke before she realised that it could also just be morning sickness.
She sat on a bench in the corridor and placed her hand on her tummy smiling as she thought, "I'll make sure to take very good care of you, baby. You will not lack a father with me, even though I have nothing now, I won't let you lack anything".
