Chapter 258 - Chapter 258: sogha vs Chalreth sparring

I stood on the flat stone floor of the large basement arena and prepared my body to move very quickly. I looked at Chalreth who was standing a few feet away from me with her weapon ready in her hand. I lowered my weight by bending my knees slightly to get a good push from the hard ground. Then I dashed sideward to start our practice match. My boots pushed off the flat stones with a lot of force, sending my whole body toward the side of the open room. The movement was very quick and sudden. I moved away from my original position, sliding across the surface of the arena floor while keeping my eyes fixed right on her. The cool air of the basement rushed past my face as I made this fast sideward movement. I kept my grip tight on the handle of my weapon as I traveled across the stones. My feet made a quick scraping sound against the floor before I stopped my sideward movement. I was now in a different spot on the wide floor, and I did not waste any time before making my next physical move against her on the stones.

As soon as my feet settled from the sideward movement, I lifted my arm high into the air. I used my physical strength to move my hand forward with great speed, and I threw my sword at her across the empty space of the arena. The metal weapon left my fingers and began to spin through the air, turning over and over as it flew straight toward the spot where Chalreth was standing. The blade cut through the quiet air of the basement, making a low whistling sound as it traveled toward her body. Chalreth did not move away from her position when she saw the sharp metal weapon coming right at her. She stayed perfectly calm and watched the spinning blade approach her front side. Just as my weapon was about to hit her, she lifted her own blade with a very quick and precise movement. She parried it with her weapon, striking my blade right on its side to change its direction completely. The two metal pieces hit each other with a very loud clanking sound that echoed off the high stone walls of the basement room where we were practicing our skills together this morning.

The force of her quick block sent my weapon spinning backward through the open air of the arena. My sword flew to me, reversing its path and traveling back toward the exact spot where I was standing on the stone floor. It turned over and over in the air as it came closer and closer to my position. I did not wait for the weapon to land on the ground. Instead, I dashed towards her right away, moving my feet forward with a lot of speed to close the distance between us. As I was running forward across the flat stones, I extended my right arm into the air toward the returning weapon. I timed my movement perfectly, and I caught my sword right out of the air. My fingers wrapped tightly around the cold metal handle once again, and I felt the solid weight of the weapon back in my hand. I kept my balance steady as I continued my fast movement forward toward her position right now today.

I was now moving very fast toward her position in the center of the wide arena floor. I used the speed of my forward movement to push myself up off the ground. I jumped high into the air, lifting my whole body up above the flat stones of the basement room. I rose up toward the high ceiling, suspended in the air for a brief moment. While I was high up in the air above her, I lifted my arm back once again with my weapon. I threw my sword at her for the second time, sending the metal blade downward toward her body from above. The weapon spun rapidly through the air, cutting a straight line toward her as I started to fall back down toward the ground. The sword moved with a lot of force as it traveled through the empty space of the room at that moment.

Chalreth looked up toward the ceiling and saw the sharp blade coming down at her from the air. She remained completely steady on her feet, showing no signs of worry at all. She waited for the perfect moment as the spinning metal weapon came close to her head. Then, she lifted her own blade quickly and she parried it with another strong movement of her arm. The metal of her weapon struck the metal of my weapon with another very loud clanking noise that filled the quiet basement arena. The hard blow deflected my blade instantly, sending it away from her body once again. The sword flew to me, spinning upward and backward through the air toward my position as I landed safely back on my feet on the flat stone floor. I reached out my hand into the open air and caught the handle firmly, securing the weapon in my grip once more today.

I did not stop my physical movements after catching the weapon again. I began to run across the flat stones as fast as I could. I kept sprinting in circles around the spot where Chalreth was standing in the middle of the room. My boots made a continuous pounding sound against the hard floor as I ran along a wide circular path. I kept my body moving constantly, turning my frame to the side so I could keep my eyes on her at all times. While I was running along this big circular line, I kept throwing my sword trying to hit her. I would fling the metal weapon forward with my arm, watch it spin through the air toward her, and then wait for it to return to my hands after she blocked it. I did this action over and over again without stopping to rest. I would throw the sword, catch it as it flew back to me, keep running along the circular path, and then throw it again right away. I was trying very hard to find an opening in her defense and hit her with my blade. My feet kept moving in large circles on the stone floor, creating a fast pattern of movement around her. Chalreth stayed right in the center of my circular path, turning her body slowly to face me as I sprinted around her. Every single time I threw my weapon from a different spot in the circle, she would lift her blade and deflect it away easily. The sword would fly right back into my waiting hand, and I would continue to sprint across the stones, trying to find a better angle to strike her. I ran left and right, maintaining my high speed and throwing my sword repeatedly through the empty air of the basement arena, but she blocked every single attempt I made to strike her body now.

After sprinting in circles for a long time, I decided to change my movement completely to try a different approach. I stopped running along the circular path and turned my body to face her directly. I dashed forward with a massive burst of speed, pushing off the stone floor with all the strength in my legs. I went close to her position, covering the remaining distance across the arena floor in a fraction of a second. I was now standing right in front of her, separated by only a small amount of open space. I lifted my weapon with both of my hands and swung my sword with a lot of power, directing the sharp edge of the blade straight toward her front side. The swing was very wide and fast, cutting through the air with a loud sound as I tried to hit her with all my might now.

Chalreth was fully ready for my close attack. She brought her own weapon up in front of her body and she blocked it with a very firm and solid stance. The two metal blades met directly in the middle of the air between us, making a sharp, ringing sound that stayed in the room for several moments. The force of the impact pushed against my arms, but I did not step back or give up my position on the floor. I kept attacking her without taking any breaks at all. I pulled my weapon back quickly and threw another fast strike toward her side. She moved her blade to stop it, but I immediately followed with a downward swing. I kept attacking over and over, moving my arms rapidly to launch one hit after another against her defense. I swung from the left, then from the right, and then straight down, continuing to strike her weapon repeatedly today now.
