Caspian's POV
I kept walking.
I think I walked all night long. At least the rest of what was left. But it was starting to feel too long.
The night, as if, stretched abnormally, the kind that crawls under your skin. Every step felt like I was being watched. Not hunted—not exactly…just…may be tracked.
Like something knew I'd taken the bait.
Good.
Let it.Because I was baiting it too.
My body healed as I moved. Cuts knit back together, bruises faded, ribs settled with dull, grinding pops. Still hurt like a bitch—but I'd had worse. However, one thing was certain, whatever effect those things had on us…it was reversible… temporary altercations.
Hours passed.Or maybe less.
Time got weird when you were running without any proper direction.
Then finally the dark started to thin.
A faint silver glow crept over the horizon, bleeding into the sky.
Dawn was near. This gave me new hope and I slowed slightly, breathing steady but controlled, eyes scanning ahead.
