Caspian's POV
I moved before I even thought it through.
One step—two—
Then I stopped dead in front of a stall.
"Masking?" I muttered under my breath.
The vendor, a hunched guy with too many rings and not enough teeth, perked up. "Got the best in Greyv—"
I didn't wait.
Snatched the small vial off his table, popped the damn pill into my mouth and swallowed it dry.
"Hey—wait…there's a—little bit of risk of side effects…," he started.I dropped a coin on the counter. He looked at it.Looked at me.Then shut the hell up. "Umm, well, never mind!"
Good.
No time for instructions anyway.
I turned and grabbed the first thing I saw from the next stall—a dark shawl, rough and oversized, good coverage—and threw it over my shoulders, pulling it low over my head.
Blend in.
Disappear.
Follow.
I kept my head down as I slipped into the crowd, tracking the direction David had gone.
At first—it worked.
Easy enough.
Until—
"…shit."
The world around me dulled.
