Chapter 54 - Page 54

The hot-tempered ninja stared blankly at the scene before him.

…Just like that, their crisis was over?

Why did it all feel so unreal?

Even the usually calm and composed ninja was trembling with excitement, as if he were staring at his idol. With uncontrollable pride in his voice, he exclaimed,

"This is Konoha's Little White Fang—Lord Moying!"

"Huh?" the hot-headed ninja asked in confusion. "Didn't I hear that he was just some damned shadow?"

"Do you even know?" the calm ninja snapped, glaring at him. "My codename is Moying! The title Blood Shadow comes from the fact that I never leave enemies alive—every mission ends in total slaughter!"

"Nowadays, most enemies run the moment they see Lord Moying. But once you stand before him—no one escapes!"

"Oh…!"

The violent ninja instantly shut up. He didn't dare provoke him further—this man was worshipping his idol. One wrong word and he'd be in real trouble.

On the other side, Xia Li had already caught up to a fleeing figure.

With effortless precision, he severed the man's head in a single swing. The body collapsed as Xia Li's figure flashed forward again, vanishing like lightning.

A bolt of light split the forest.

He caught another wandering ninja—but this one tried to fight back.

Xia Li didn't care.

He swung his blade without hesitation, while the opponent raised a kunai to block—

And then his eyes widened in horror.

A long blade had appeared behind his kunai.

The last thought that crossed his mind before death was—

Why couldn't I stop it?

The reason was simple.

His hand was too slow.

It looked as though he'd blocked the blade's path, but in truth, the sword had already passed that point—slashing straight toward his unguarded body.

Why was Xia Li so fast?

He was using only the most basic Lightning Release acceleration technique—but his mastery of it was terrifying. At the moment of explosive acceleration, the sword itself seemed to vanish.

The blade left behind was merely an afterimage.

The real edge had already arrived.

The wandering ninja's corpse fell from midair.

Xia Li didn't slow down. He continued chasing the next target.

Silently, he counted.

Two solved… nine left.

Before he realized it, a blood-red gleam had crept into Xia Li's eyes.

Chapter 99: Railgun?

The forest was dark, as though the sky itself had lost all color.

Under such conditions, ninjas could often be seen fleeing like madmen.

"Why… why is that damned shadow here?!" one wandering ninja screamed as he ran. The legend of an undefeated killer with no survivors had already crushed his sanity.

He had known from the start—he shouldn't have taken this job.

From now on, shouldn't he stay as far away from Konoha ninjas as possible?

But that was only if he could escape.

Despair filled his eyes as he looked at the rapidly approaching figure.

The gap in speed was too great.

There was no escape.

If that was the case… he might as well give it everything!

The wandering ninja suddenly turned around, his hands flying through seals, his face twisted with desperation.

"Then try everything I've learned in my life!"

A powerful, linear torrent of flame erupted from his mouth, engulfing the pursuing figure.

"Hah—!"

He laughed wildly, his expression almost hysterical. "So much for the legendary Blood Shadow. Just rumors after all!"

But his smile froze.

Because his head had already separated from his body.

Xia Li's figure appeared silently beside him, gazing calmly at the corpse.

When the man resisted, he'd claimed this was the culmination of his life's training—and even tried a substitute tactic.

And the result?

That jutsu just now… a C-rank escape technique. Dragon Flame Jutsu, right?

C-rank. A lifetime to master?

Well… considering he was a wandering ninja, it wasn't that strange. Learning a single C-rank technique suited to oneself was already respectable.

Third one.

Everyone fleeing in this direction was dead.

Time to change routes.

In the next instant, Xia Li vanished.

When he reappeared, he was in another direction entirely.

Before this, he had already scattered Flying Thunder God kunai in all directions.

He was used to this by now.

Most enemies fled the moment they saw him. Even with his incredible speed, hunting every last one down directly was inefficient. And over time, Xia Li had refined his use of the Flying Thunder God technique.

He predicted their escape routes, placed marked kunai along those paths, and once they fled, he moved in the opposite direction—killing them along the way before teleporting again.

Simple in theory.

Difficult in execution.

But practice solved that.

Over the past year and a half, Xia Li's chakra reserves had grown at an astonishing rate. At the same time, his mastery of Flying Thunder God reduced its chakra consumption dramatically.

Under such conditions, the technique no longer shackled him.

Xia Li didn't pause even for an instant.

After pulling a marked kunai from the ground, lightning flashed—and his figure shot forward once more.

Now, when Xia Li used Lightning Release acceleration, the violent arcs of electricity were gone. Most of the time, he only left behind faint traces of lightning.

His chakra control had reached a terrifying level.

Even with immense reserves, he wasted none.

Soon, Xia Li spotted four figures ahead.

They hadn't scattered completely—likely planning to fight together if caught.

They stopped.

Clearly, they realized they'd been intercepted.

Judging by their expressions, they'd expected to be chased—but not this fast.

As Xia Li approached, sword in hand like a reaper, panic spread among them.

They frantically pulled shuriken from their pouches and hurled them at him without restraint.

Normally, wandering ninjas were notoriously stingy.

But in the face of death, nothing was too precious to throw away.

Then came true despair.

Xia Li didn't dodge.

Lightning crackled around his body—and as the shuriken approached, they seemed to hit an invisible barrier, slowing… circling… and then falling neatly into his hands.

Those were tools they'd saved for ages to buy.

How… how was this possible?

Xia Li glanced at the pile of shuriken in his hands. Poor quality—but selling them would still fetch a decent price.

As for how he did it?

Magnetism.

An electromagnetic field surrounded him.

For the past year and a half, his research into railgun principles hadn't been about the weapon alone—but about applying foundational knowledge.

If the shuriken were too powerful, he couldn't fully block them with magnetism alone.

That's why small metal fragments constantly rotated around his field—acting as mobile shields.

And if even that failed?

Then it meant he hadn't left a Flying Thunder God mark there.

Once the electromagnetic field activated, there was no reason to hold back.

Xia Li raised his hand.

A bullet-shaped iron projectile floated out of his ninja pouch and hovered before him.

With a gentle flick of his finger—

The electromagnetic field erupted.

The projectile accelerated into a beam of light and slammed forward, sending enemies flying.

At the same time, Xia Li completed a seal.

"Ninjutsu—Shuriken Shadow Clone Technique!"

In the wandering ninjas' despairing gaze, the invisible projectile split into dozens of beams—

There was no dodging.

No time for seals.

Their bodies were riddled instantly.

If someone like Misaka saw this, she might find it embarrassing.

But for Xia Li?

It was enough.

When speed reaches its extreme… even an attack right in front of you becomes unavoidable.

Staring at the corpses, the blood-red light in Xia Li's eyes deepened.

"Four left."

Then his figure vanished once more.

Chapter 100: Uncontrollable Killing Intent

"Boss… should we run?"

Elsewhere, a wandering ninja finally relaxed when nothing followed them and asked the only special-grade jonin in their group.

"…Looks like it," the leader said stiffly. "Maybe the Blood Shadow really is just a rumor."

A legend with no survivors was terrifying—especially one repeated again and again.

"That's right!" his subordinate encouraged him. "Boss, you're a jonin! You don't need to fear that kid. Kill him—he must be carrying valuable items and powerful jutsu!"

"Haha… forget it," the leader laughed. "As long as we live."

After all, killing a jonin from a major village alone? Rumors could exaggerate anything.

They stopped.

The leader's smile suddenly froze.

He landed on the ground, drenched in cold sweat.

The others followed, confused—then saw his expression.

They followed his gaze.

A vague figure stood ahead.

Their hearts skipped a beat.

They'd only been chatting.

As the distance closed, the figure became clear.

Recognition struck—and disbelief spread across their faces.

Why was he here?

Had he been waiting?

Was this even humanly possible?

Xia Li smiled faintly at the remaining four.

Perfect.

Gathered together.

Less trouble.

He raised the Flying Thunder God kunai in his hand and spoke calmly:

"Congratulations…"

"You chose the wrong direction."
