Chapter 19 - Chapter 18: New day.

Next day.

Inside a movie theater.

Naoya sat silently in his seat while a finger from the side kept poking his face.

It was Satori.

She sat on his left, wearing a pair of black glasses, continuously pestering him for some God-forsaken reason.

*Crunch*

Suguri and Shoko sat in the seats behind them, casually eating popcorn.

*Poke*Poke*

Naoya sighed, turned his head, and said to her,

"Can you sto—acwk!"

Her finger went into his mouth.

"What! You can talk?!"

Satori exclaimed in a surprised voice as she casually wiped her finger on his jacket.

Naoya gave her a look, then held his forehead and asked in resignation,

"Why are we even here?...."

They had bunked school.

On the second day, nonetheless.

Even now, he could feel his phone vibrating constantly; their teacher, Masamichi Yaga, must be going crazy.

"Of course, it's to improve the mood of a certain someone who has been sulking all day long."

Satori explained while clearly pointing at him.

".....You're talking about me?"

"Wah? How could you tell??"

She said in a surprised tone while holding her mouth.

Seeing Naoya give her a silent look, she leaned in closer and, in a calm tone, asked,

"So what happened?"

Naoya glanced at her, then replied,

"General Zenin clan dispute."

"So, you're finally getting kicked out?"

She slightly lowered her glasses, revealing her beautiful blue eyes.

"..... you sound like you want me to get kicked out....."

"Hehe, don't worry. If they ever kick you out, I'll help you join the Gojo clan."

Suguri and Shoko gave each other a side-eye.

The Zenin genius defecting to the Gojo clan?

Damn, the jujutsu world would go crazy.

The two continued listening in silence, as the conversation happening ahead of them seemed much more interesting than the movie.

"Are you proposing or something?" Naoya asked in a casual tone.

"Have you ever heard of overthinking? Heh, I'll let you join as a servant."

"Servant? Didn't know you had fantasies like that...."

"Is your entire head filled with nothing but garbage? No wonder the Zenin clan wants to kick you out," Satori said while tightly pinching his hand.

"Even if I get disowned, I'll never become one of you albinos....."

"What? Did you just call me an albino??"

"It's only natural to call an albino an albino."

"You..... yellow-headed wannabe who dyes his hair!"

Was that supposed to be an insult?

And wait, how does she know?

Suguri and Shoko silently enjoyed the show, feeling sad that they wasted money on a ticket when they had drama at home.

As they were exiting the theater, they were stopped by a very familiar figure.

Masamichi Yaga.

The four of them looked at him.

And Masamichi stared back.

After a moment of silence,

The four of them turned at the same time and started walking away.

"You idiots! How dare you skip school!!!"

Along with his heavy voice, a punch landed straight on Naoya's head.

Wait, why was only he getting punished?

Masamichi, you biased bastard!

It wasn't even his plan!

Naoya rubbed his head in annoyance while Satori gave him a gloating look.

"Tsk, you brats wasted so much time.... a mission arrived for you."

'Another mission?'

"A cursed spirit was detected inside a school..."

"For this mission, Naoya and Suguri will go together."

"Ehh? What about me???" Satori asked while pointing at herself.

"There's another mission for you and Shoko..."

----

Inside a school.

Naoya and Suguri passed through the barrier and looked at the empty place.

"They said it's a 3rd-grade spirit. Let's exorcise it quickly and leave."

Naoya took the lead, and Suguri followed.

They entered the school building and walked along the corridor.

Just then, the door of one of the classrooms burst open, and a huge purple monster with several mouths on its body rushed out.

Suguri activated her technique, making three cursed spirits crawl out from the ground.

But before they could even fully emerge, Naoya punched the cursed spirit, making it cave inward as it crashed into the school's wall.

Suguri looked at his back, then unsummoned her cursed spirits before saying,

"I'll capture it."

She was about to control the cursed spirit when Naoya suddenly stopped her.

"It's only a 3rd-grade spirit. Since you don't like eating them, just focus on capturing the stronger ones and kill the rest."

Suguri's hands paused. She blinked, then said,

"Even ants can kill an elephant."

Naoya stopped, then turned back to look at her.

"If you want to eat it, then go ahead. I won't stop you."

"..... no thanks."

She lowered her hands and looked at the cursed spirit slowly trying to crawl up.

"There's something I want to try."

Naoya looked at the struggling spirit.

Raising his hands, he made a hand gesture he had never made before.

Ten Shadows Cursed Technique Reversal: Divine Dogs.

A shadow suddenly emerged around the 3rd-grade cursed spirit.

Then, before it could react, several chains rushed out and bound it in an unbreakable net.

Naoya looked at the cursed spirit in silence.

As the shadowy chains around it tightened, he felt his contract with the shikigami Divine Dogs slowly disappear.

This was the reversed cursed technique of his Ten Shadows.

It granted him the ability to completely sever a connection with one of his shikigami and form a new one with a cursed spirit of his choice.

With this, he could potentially replace all of his weaker shikigami with special-grade cursed spirits.

Naoya disrupted the process, destroying the chains around the 3rd-grade cursed spirit and restoring his connection with the Divine Dogs.

Ten Shadows was indeed a very powerful technique.

While going back, Suguri looked around the interior of the sports car before commenting,

"It's pretty nice."

Naoya smiled and increased the speed.

"Glad you liked it."

Suguri looked at him, then said,

"It seems your mood has improved."

"Is it that easy to guess?" Naoya asked with a frown.

"It is."

"....."

Naoya fell silent.

Suguri looked outside the window before asking,

"You and Satori, how did you two meet?"

"What's up with the random question?"

"Considering how both of you are from opposing clans..... it would seem easier to become enemies than friends."

"Well....."

Naoya took a right turn and continued in a nostalgic tone.

"We were both mature for our age. Of course, compared to me, she was still childish. I could tell at a glance she didn't have any friends, so I approached her out of pity and asked to be friends, and she agreed...."

----

"That idiot asked me out of nowhere, 'Are you Satoru Gojo because you're the strongest? Or are you the strongest because you're Satoru Gojo?' Like, what the hell does that even mean?"

"And can you believe it? He didn't even know my name! Tsk, he thought I was a man!"

"How can anyone be so dumb??"

"Sigh.... It was at that time I knew I had met a mentally challenged child, so I thought it was my duty to help and guide him to the correct path..."

Satori said with a distant look on her face, as if she had made a great sacrifice.

Meanwhile, Suguri listened to her with a blank expression.

How come both of their words sound completely different?
