Chapter 46 - Mr. Heisenberg

As soon as the words fell, everyone present finally let out instinctive cries of shock.

They had thought the Justice League was still a subordinate organization under the Nuke Gang.

Or maybe the Justice League was just an elite squad under Heisenberg.

But now, with one look, they realized even Boss Heisenberg himself had personally joined the Justice League!

In an instant, countless people felt the urge to join the Justice League.

Listening to the light commotion below, Heisenberg raised both hands and clapped twice.

The noise vanished at once. Then Heisenberg waited two seconds and continued to the crowd.

"The reason I named this organization the Justice League is because I want to deliver the deadliest mockery to the American authorities!"

"In front of those politicians, and those cops and soldiers who live off our taxpayers' money, when they cannot uphold justice at this very moment, justice will instead be held in the hands of bastards like us!"

Heisenberg suddenly lifted his right hand.

"Tell me, boys, what do they call us!!!"

"Scum!"

"Trash!"

"Wastes!"

"Villains!"

"Violent lunatics!"

"Spies!"

"Traitors!"

"Failures!"

"Gangsters!"

"Hydra!"

"Agents!"

"Drug dealers!!!"

???

...

The theater, which had been clamoring a moment ago, went dead silent.

Everyone's gaze slammed onto the big shot who had shouted "drug dealers."

All of New York knew the thing Heisenberg hated most was drugs.

And you actually ran straight into the muzzle looking for death?!!

The guy who shouted looked about twenty. Stared at by so many people, he blanked on the spot.

And when Heisenberg also looked at him with a baffled expression, the kid sprang up from his seat with a whoosh.

"BOSS, that was before, I haven't done that for more than two months! I really don't do it anymore!!!"

...

Seeing this, Heisenberg smiled and nodded.

"Sit down, boy.

Matthew, take some time and have people check in on this guy. I hope what he said is true."

Daredevil nodded in agreement, and only then did the kid dare to sit back down.

He really had not dealt drugs for two months. That could stand up to investigation, he had nothing to be afraid of.

As long as the boss did not beat him to death on the spot!

To be honest, most of the people present were just like that kid, filled with fear toward Heisenberg.

As for why they were afraid?

If there were a Superman standing in front of you too, and that Superman had killed countless people, and even when every gang boss in all of New York gathered together, he wiped them out in one sweep without leaving a single one behind...!

Believe me, you would feel fear too.

After the brief little episode, Heisenberg sat back down on his exclusive sofa and continued to the crowd.

"Anyway, including the guy who shouted 'drug dealer,' in our past lives, none of us were ever going to be acknowledged as the side of justice!"

Daredevil: Are you sure?

Ahem...

"They love to put themselves in the better position, and drag our thoughts into their framework of understanding.

In their eyes, everything we do is destined to be drenched in evil and guilt, but I have to say this, boys.

The road to justice has never been only one path, insisting on justice.

On the contrary, insisting on justice is the stupidest way to achieve justice, and the hardest one.

If I use strict discipline and demands to force the whole world to become just,

then in that process, we are destined to do many evil things.

But the ending will contain real justice!

If we want people to follow a rule, first we make sure they know the rule. Second, we demand they follow it.

Next, we kill the people who break the rules, and shove their blood-soaked corpses in front of everyone else, telling them the consequences of breaking rules!

And finally!

Believe in us, boys. We will become justice itself!"

At this point, many underlings who were hearing about Heisenberg's ambition for the first time widened their eyes in shock.

For a deformed country like America, today's America could be said to be held up entirely by the two seductive words, freedom and hope.

Even though everyone knew it was not free at all, and there was almost no hope.

But no matter what, even a homeless man on the street chasing freedom would still praise how wonderful America's freedom was.

Even most former small-business directors whose hope had been stolen by financial oligarchs would still praise how fantastic America's hope was.

And in today's America, very few people dared, like Heisenberg, to speak authoritarian ideology so directly in a semi-public setting!

At the same time, Heisenberg also sensed the subtle shift around him, so he sneered and clapped his hands.

"Boys, what are you afraid of? Your boss has power enough to contend with everything, so we must believe in ourselves.

Remember this well. No one can stand in my way. No one.

I will crush every obstacle in front of me.

And I sincerely hope that none of those obstacles are you!"

As the words fell, the theater that had been slightly noisy instantly quieted down. The huge group of underlings sitting here almost all thought it through.

They finally remembered why they had defected to Heisenberg in the first place.

Was it to pursue freedom and hope, to safeguard their country's basic interests?

To hell with America's interests!

They did it to survive, or because Heisenberg was strong, and they wanted to cling to the thickest thigh they could find!

So what was America, anyway?

At that, Heisenberg gave a final clap.

"That's it.

Daredevil, go back and distribute the laws you compiled recently to everyone. Then form an inspection team yourself and oversee it.

If any problems come up, report to Bullseye or Rumlow. When I'm not around, the two best at killing among us are those two.

Also, raise everyone's pay and benefits. There's more work to do now, so wages should keep up, right?

Dismissed. Don't disturb my rest. Alright, alright!"

After saying that, Heisenberg left on his own, leaving the space to his underlings.

...

The noisy discussion continued until evening before it finally ended. When the theater became completely quiet, Heisenberg lay on the bed and revealed a satisfied smile.

He had been right.

If he planned to push his hardline rule in America, then he had to start with the black-market gangsters who had no scruples.

These bastards were probably the easiest to accept his thinking and demands.

Next came Hydra. Rumlow and his men had no resistance to his ideals at all.

Because they were like that to begin with.

Wasn't Hydra precisely an organization that betrayed American ideology, an evil organization where collective利益 outweighed individual利益?

And besides them, Heisenberg also had to handle New York's civilians properly.

These civilians definitely would not be able to accept changes to their lives right away.

When they truly felt the restraints imposed by the gangs.

When they realized that whether they had money or not, Heisenberg would convict them according to his laws.

When the rich could not hire lawyers, and the poor could one hundred percent obtain justice.

New York would erupt into chaos.

Heisenberg had his own method for that.

What method?

When chaos appears inside a city, it's simple. Just bring them an external enemy powerful enough.

And for New York, for America, even for the entire Earth.

What enemy could be more suitable than aliens?

Heisenberg calculated in his mind the time when the Avengers plot was about to begin.

When he entered the Marvel universe, there were three months until the plot started.

And now, a little more than two and a half months had passed.

Considering the butterfly effect he had brought, Loki might not appear at the original time.

Fastest, it would be in the next few days. Slowest, it would be later than before.

In short, Loki was coming.

Which meant the key Heisenberg needed to pry open the foundations of America in the Marvel world was almost here!

...

At eight in the evening, in an apartment in Queens.

Peter Parker was watching the news with Uncle Ben.

Uncle Ben was a good man. On ordinary days, he always liked to educate Peter through the news.

After all, in Uncle Ben's generation, the news was the most real, most official platform for sharing and commenting on events.

But tonight's New York evening news...

The more Uncle Ben watched, the stranger it felt.

The weather forecast at the beginning had no surprises. Tomorrow, light rain would hit New York, and he needed to remind Peter to bring an umbrella.

The opening of the next segment also seemed normal. The sexy, beautiful host Lawrence still spoke the same opening lines everyone heard every day.

"Welcome, viewers, to New York Evening News!"

But after that sentence, everything seemed to change!

"Before we begin reviewing today's content, I must share a piece of good news with everyone.

According to reliable sources, New York's Superman has decided to relocate from Brooklyn to the Columbus Circle Theater in Manhattan.

So we probably won't have a chance to keep enjoying the ballet in that theater anymore.

But that's secondary. What matters is that Superman has finally truly accepted our city, choosing to settle permanently in the very center of New York City, right between the Empire State Building and Central Park!

Now, let's take a look at the on-site report provided by Mr. Brian."

The moment the footage switched, Peter on the sofa let out a despairing howl.

"Ahhh my god, Superman moved to Manhattan! I have to save up for so many more days to go visit him. The ticket to Manhattan costs a whole two dollars more!"

Hearing his nephew, Uncle Ben immediately laughed, then said to Peter with a grin.

"Then are you still planning to sell the watch Superman gave you? If you sell it, you'll definitely have enough money!"

"Uncle Ben, don't tease me like that, okay? Back then I only wanted to buy Aunt May a washing machine because she didn't have one. Washing clothes by hand was exhausting for her.

But I'm sorry, in the end I still couldn't bear to. This is the watch Superman gave me!"

"Haha!"

Uncle Ben rubbed his nephew's head with deep satisfaction.

"That's the right choice, kid. You must never trade a gift someone gave you for money, because money has a price, but a gift is one of a kind.

Uncle doesn't need you to worry about my life. Your Aunt May will have her new washing machine soon."

"Okay, okay, hurry and watch the TV, Superman's about to appear!"

Peter cut Uncle Ben off, because the screen had already reached the moment when Heisenberg was about to step out of a stretched Bentley.

In the next second, Heisenberg, wearing a suit as sharp as a blade and bearing a face like a god, stepped out of the car.

In that instant, even the reporter filming could not help but scream.

"Lord Heisenberg, can I interview you, just one minute, half a minute!"

"My lord, don't walk so fast, can you look at the camera?!"

"Ahhh don't block us, we want an interview, damn it!"

"Superman!!!"

The cheers rang through Central Park, making Peter in front of the TV unable to contain his excitement.

But after the excitement, Peter asked Uncle Ben in confusion, "Uncle Ben, why do they all call Superman 'Lord Heisenberg'?"

"That's because they're not Superman's friends!"

"Ah ha, Superman specially gave me a watch. That's his gift to me, so I'm his friend, right?"

"Of course, kid. If you see him again, you can call him 'sir,' not 'my lord,'" Uncle Ben said seriously to Peter.
