Chapter 117 - Are You Questioning the Official’s Devotion?

[Holy crap, the Little Giga is still alive?!]

[Why so surprised? The Little Giga is the undefeated legend of the Primeval Ecological Zone.]

In the comment sections of a certain website, aside from debating whether dinosaurs should be evacuated from Isla Nublar, the hottest topic was Carlo.

After all, the Primeval Ecological Zone had been one of Jurassic World's biggest attractions. Practically anyone who had heard of the park knew a thing or two about Carlo, to say nothing of his extraordinary performance during the incident.

"Hey! Claire! I think this could actually work!"

Inside a cluttered, bustling workspace, Zia Rodriguez raised her right arm, leaning back in her chair with a characteristic touch of lethargy as she called out to Claire Dearing, who was busy managing the unfolding crisis.

Since the collapse of Jurassic World, Claire had traveled with Owen Grady for a time, but they eventually split up, reportedly because "Owen wouldn't let her drive." It was, in a word, surreal.

Upon learning that Isla Nublar faced an unprecedented volcanic cataclysm, she had thrown herself into the cause of a grassroots Dinosaur Protection Group (DPG), rallying like-minded individuals to fight for the dinosaurs' right to survive.

"Coming."

Claire offered a clipped response. She was currently juggling three different conversations regarding work assignments, dictating voice memos into her phone while weaving toward Zia.

"I told you, we have to promote the idea that dinosaurs are beautiful living creatures. This poster of yours reminds me of last century's monster movies."

Days like this made Claire reminisce about her time as Operations Manager. Back then, a certain "genius" editor had essentially turned a simple request into an over-the-top cinematic feast just to show off.

"What is it, Zia? Found a suitable spokesperson?"

Claire inquired. Zia had a smirk on her face, looking quite pleased with herself as she lounged back.

"Yes, though he isn't exactly in a position to take our calls."

She played coy, piquing Claire's curiosity further.

Ding~ The "Jurassic World — Primeval Ecological Zone — Giganotosaurus Sector" you follow has posted a new update. (x10)

[Good News! All Giganotosaurus members have survives!]

[Four years later, the Little Giga returns! Estimated height: 10 meters!]

[A predator as massive as the giant sauropods! The Giganotosaurus breaks all records!]]

[The Giganotosaurus actively helps an herbivore escape? Is this a glimmer of prehistoric brilliance or the pinnacle of saurian morality?]

The official Jurassic World website had long since ceased service, and the Primeval Ecological Zone sector had even been shuttered for a time because it held critical evidence for lawsuits against Masrani Global.

Between that and the fact that all video archives were sealed after the site's eventual reopening, almost no one was still following the page, let alone seeing the "official" Giganotosaurus news.

[The official account is still active?!]

[LMAO, wake up, Jurassic World went bust years ago!]

[No, seriously bro, you're a legend. You're the most hardcore 'Official' I've ever seen.]

[Hmm? Are you questioning the Official's devotion?]

Glancing past the tragically low comment and view counts, Claire continued scrolling.

[He won the Gulag! Little Giga... my Little Giga... hehe.]

[I'm organizing a filming expedition. Damned America rejected my private rescue application, so I can only launch drones from a nautical mile out to film the island.]

Claire paused. Was there someone this bold in our park before? Why hadn't she known?

"You want this former 'Official' to handle our publicity? With all due respect, he..."

Claire carefully weighed the possibility of making this anonymous account-holder a spokesperson. The biggest issue was that the person's style of promotion didn't suit the general public; it only appealed to hardcore dinosaur enthusiasts. She moved to dissuade Zia.

"No, no, no, Claire. You misunderstand," Zia interrupted.

"What I mean is: Why don't we just make the Giganotosaurus himself our spokesperson? He fits almost all our criteria, doesn't he? It wouldn't even be an exaggeration to call him a 'miracle.'"

Claire blinked, looking at the image of Carlo on the Primeval Ecological Zone's cover. She found herself agreeing.

"That... might actually work."

If they wanted to promote dinosaurs, why not use the most trending dinosaur as the face of the movement? It seemed she had been out of the marketing game too long if she hadn't thought of that herself.

However, if they went that route, the focus of the campaign would shift from dinosaurs as a whole to this specific Giganotosaurus...

Why does it feel a bit like a cult?

Are there more planes in the sky lately?

Carlo looked up at the night sky. Thick smoke obscured most of the stars, but a blinking red light circled above. Another drone, it seemed.

"Roar—"

Beside him, Kafka let out a loud roar at the buzzing creature in the sky.

Under Carlo's tutelage, Kafka had become the dedicated night security for "Mom" and "Dad." Standing at a height of 4 meters, she was still a bit smaller than her parents, but she was a full 0.5 meters taller than her two siblings!

Could it really be that 'lying down after a meal' is the secret to a long, healthy life?

Carlo's movement to settle back onto the ground hitched. He looked into the depths of the forest, instantly locking onto a strange scent.

The breeze brushed past, making the leaves sway slightly. It felt as though a pair of yellow pupils had met Carlo's gaze from hundreds of meters away for a fraction of a second before vanishing.

Rumble—

Carlo rose from the ground. He was about to go investigate the strange scent when he was preempted by a massive sound echoing from the horizon.

The dark night sky failed to blend into Isla Nublar's highest volcano; a red glimmer illuminated the line where they met.

The volcano was restless.

Carlo wasn't the only one who realized it. Beside him, Mom and Dad woke up; the other two youngsters, the Stegosaurus brother... and all the other creatures inhabiting the area near the Great Lake raised their heads to look toward the mountain.

Rumble—

The ground vibrated continuously. Giant boulders glowing with red heat erupted from the dark mountain, smashing against the rim of the crater before tumbling down the slopes toward the south of the island.

Rumble...

The tremors weakened slightly but didn't disappear. The dinosaurs in the Primeval Ecological Zone, who had been tensing their bodies, began to relax again.

Carlo stood up and gave a soft huff to Mom and Dad before heading toward the southern side of the island alone.

Feeling the vibrations emanating from the south, he decided to investigate... or perhaps, simply to confirm that nothing abnormal was happening.
