"I have another shipment. The route is shorter, and the pay is doubled."
"What kind of cargo?"
Sound of fabric fluttering.
The gray cloth covering the inside of the truck bed behind the woman in white was ripped away, revealing four iron crates neatly arranged in a row.
Low growls.
Soft hissing sounds emanated from within, startling both Delacourt and his deputy.
"Atrociraptors... purebreds, trained for one purpose: to kill."
The woman looked composed, as if these Atrociraptors wouldn't dare harm her even if they broke free.
"Kill who?"
"Whoever I order them to. A laser locks onto the target, and they track the scent to finish the job. No one escapes... those idiots modifying hybrid dinosaurs made a huge mistake."
The woman looked quite proud of her creations, much like someone bragging about ranking fourth in the entire grade on a politics exam. Having the leisure to show off her work to these two made one wonder: Did anyone even ask you?
"Genetic modification doesn't create royalty. Only careful cultivation does."
A blood-purity elitist, then. But was she really that confident? Was there truly no "special additive" in the Atrociraptors' blood?
"Fifty thousand Euros. Deliver them to Livide... deal or no deal?"
Finally, the crux of the matter. A messenger bag was hurled forward, slamming onto the stone floor in front of Delacourt.
Sound of a zipper.
The bag popped open, revealing piles of cold, hard cash.
"It's a deal. Move!"
The cameras on the rooftops captured the transaction, rapidly snapping screenshots to secure the evidence.
The sound of rushing footsteps erupted in the relatively spacious alleyway, and several plainclothes officers drew their weapons!
"Hands up! Get on the ground!"
Both sides of the transaction stiffened. Before Delacourt could even fully stand, he realized his own deputy had already drawn a gun, aimed directly at him.
"On the ground."
Wait, didn't we just break out of prison together?!
The mercenaries working for the woman in white drew their weapons to face the unknown plainclothes officers. Delacourt held his hands slightly aloft, hovering in a semi-surrendered state, perhaps still unable to recover from the sudden shock.
"Damn it."
Owen, lying in wait in the distance, saw the situation going south and immediately scrambled to his feet.
Bang!
True to form, the sound of gunfire echoed through the alley the next second! The truck carrying the Atrociraptors gunned its engine. Delacourt seized the chance to drop the cash and blend into the dinosaur black market.
"Don't let him get away!"
Meanwhile, Owen dove into the black market, instantly locking onto that scrawny, fleeing figure.
The two sprinted through the chaotic, noisy market, though the people around them seemed remarkably unfazed.
Is this guy seriously doing this again?
Delacourt glanced back, caught sight of the familiar figure, and drew his pistol from his coat, determined to make the situation even more chaotic.
Wait... a gun? Are you actually afraid of an unarmed man?
Bang! Bang!
Two shots rang out. The bullets instantly shattered the lock of an iron gate that blended into the wall. The gate swung open slowly, the sound of friction accompanied by heavy, thumping footsteps.
"What the—!"
An Allosaurus emerged slowly, blocking Owen's path.
Almost instinctively, Owen used his signature "instant dinosaur taming" technique. Whether the Allosaurus hadn't adapted to the light or the new environment, it didn't attack.
Wait... two crates. Then what's behind me...?
Owen dropped into a horse stance, twisting his body to face the Allosaurus with one hand while looking toward the other crate.
"Aok?"
A Utahraptor?!
…
"This is B1. We have visual on the truck."
High up on a building, a sniper rifle was aimed at the truck that was trying to flee the chaos.
"Three, two, one."
Underneath an arched bridge, caltrops popped up instantly! The truck couldn't react in time and drove right over them!
Screech...
A moment later, the tires blew out. The truck lost control, swaying and smashing into the nearby wall.
BANG!...
Thud, thud!
In an instant, the wall crumbled. The truck, accompanied by flying bricks, tumbled back into the dinosaur black market. The four iron crates holding the Atrociraptors were flung uncontrollably from the truck bed, slamming onto the ground.
"Aoooo!"
Compared to Owen, the Utahraptor seemed much more interested in the Allosaurus, chirping lightly at it.
"Roar?"
Unbelievably, the Allosaurus actually responded!
The Utahraptor hopped nimbly onto the Allosaurus's back, employing a technique that was, for some reason, quite practiced.
Sensing the Utahraptor, the Allosaurus gradually adapted to its new surroundings and began to pace forward, leaving Owen behind, still stuck in his horse stance.
What kind of bizarre symbiotic relationship is this?! Surely the Allosaurus isn't being... mounted... by the Utahraptor.
Ahem. Owen snapped out of it, turned, vaulted over a railing, and took a shortcut to keep pursuing Delacourt! And then he realized...
"Get it off! Get it off!"
Delacourt's ankle was being gnawed on by a little Carnotaurus, and he couldn't shake it loose.
I finally understand why you were afraid to face people even with a gun. Are you still the same ruthless poaching ringleader I knew?
Sound of a pistol being cocked.
Delacourt pulled out his pistol, aiming at the little Carnotaurus biting him! Owen, seeing this, grabbed a lucky Compsognathus that had been watching from a nearby cage and hurled it right into Delacourt's face!
"Argh!"
The Compsognathus's tiny, sharp teeth pierced his skin, making it impossible to shake off.
Clatter...
The pistol hit the ground. Delacourt used both hands to peel the Compsognathus off his face, only to be kicked over by the rushing Owen!
"That girl... where is she? Where did you take her?!"
Owen picked up Delacourt's gun, aiming it at him, his voice trembling slightly.
"Get it off me!"
The little Carnotaurus was still persistently gnawing on Delacourt's foot. It seemed to have found a trick: switching from tearing to swallowing. It currently had Delacourt's entire foot deep inside its mouth.
Delacourt tried to sit up to pry the Carnotaurus off, but was kicked back down by Owen!
"Where is she?!"
"My foot is being eaten!"
Bang!
Owen lost his patience and fired a shot into the ground right beside Delacourt's ear, making the man shudder. The little Carnotaurus, however, continued to swallow as if nothing had happened.
"I don't know! I handed her over to Santos... Argh!"
The persistent Carnotaurus finally saw the fruits of its labor, successfully severing the man's foot and swallowing it with satisfaction.
Having gotten the answer he needed, Owen no longer cared about the man. He tucked the gun into his belt, turned to leave, and tapped his headset.
He finally realized he should carry a gun.jpg
"Claire, it's Santos. The woman in white."
"I'll find her."
…
"Don't move!"
The strike team led by Barry rushed to the wrecked truck, guns aimed at the driver.
Santos hid behind a nearby wall. Watching her creations doomed to be seized, she finally decided to make her move.
"Let them out."
"What?"
The truck driver was still struggling to get out of the crushed cab, the button to open the iron crates right by his hand.
"You heard me."
