KAI
I got to the café fifteen minutes early, I ordered a coffee I wouldn't drink and picked a table in the back where no one would overhear while I waited for her to come.
Mira showed up exactly on time. Work clothes—dress pants, blouse, looking professional but worn out. She spotted me and her whole body tensed.
She sat across from me, her arms crossed and her mood sour.
"This better be quick. I have work in an hour." She said without even a warm greeting.
"Hi too and thanks for coming." I told her and she rolled her eyes before adjusting herself to the seat opposite me and her face stern.
"What do you want, Rivers?" She asked and I took a deep breath before responding.
"I want to help your brother."
"You already said that." Her eyes were flat. "Still don't buy it. So what's new and why did you invite me to come."
"Because I have new updates. Sloane spent three days with Bryce during his heat."
Her jaw tightened. "I know because Bryce told me."
