Did Rotsard make the same mistake that he so vehemently accused the commoner maid of?
He suspected his family to be responsible, while it had nothing to do with the whole thing…?
Once again, Rotsard's composure was put to the test.
And honestly?
He almost broke.
Both his conviction about making sure that everything will follow the story the deofol read him so that the world would achieve peace, as well as his own word.
When he noticed Joshua Karlasth passing in the hallway, Rotsard was already holding the quill and letting his mana be channeled into it, about to unleash an attack then and there.
*TWUMPH*
"?!?!"
"..."
The only reason he didn't was that the quill itself couldn't handle the mana and exploded into glistening particles with almost a comical sound, startling a few passing students, and leaving Rotsard with a slightly frosted hand.
More than the layer of ice on his hand, the attention of other students got him to cool his head and leave for the next exam.
No teacher died during the 1st volume of the story that would lead to a perfect world.
But there was a bright side. Once again, he recalled the detail that previously made him feel slightly sorry for the assistant teacher Hervolst.
There will be a change of practical training teacher, without any prior announcement.
Joshua Karlasth was already going to disappear and never return after the summer break.
Only that in the real world, Rotsard will at least attempt to be the one behind that fact.
Once he decided on that, Rotsard had to start planning things out properly.
To do that, he needed time.
So he made a little adjustment to his other plans.
Until that point, he was taking his time with the written exams, doing his utmost best to shift around and act as suspicious as possible to make others suspect that he was cheating in some way. Now, he decided to be as fast as possible instead.
*THUMP*
"!?!?"
So the moment that the teacher called out that they could turn over their exam papers and start writing, Rotsard in particular did so with enough gusto to make others flinch.
He did make sure to read the whole question properly before starting to write, but his speed was definitely something to behold.
Although accidentally, it actually looked more suspicious than all of Rotsard's previous attempts put together.
Even the teacher in charge of the subject started to wonder whether his question somehow leaked early because there was no signs of hesitation in Rotsard's steady hand holding the brand new quill, witing extensive answers to each and every last one of them.
*tack*
"Teacher. I finished the exam."
"...p-pardon…?"
Only a couple of minutes in, while most of his classmates hadn't gone through half of the first page's questions, Rotsard put down his quill and announced, causing the teacher to flinch and ask while hurriedly checking out their own pocket watch as well as the large tower watch brought to the classroom especially for the exams.
"Have a nice day."
Rotsard didn't answer directly. Instead, while already standing up and on his way to the door, he said and nodded at the teacher.
"S-student Vallhall! If you leave now, you won't be able to return to the classroom to finish the exam…!"
"?"
The stunned teacher shook his head and called out, causing the bleached-blond-haired boy to stop right in front of the door and turn around in pure confusion all over his face.
"Even if you're indisposed, you should at least try to answer as many questions as possible!"
The teacher added, acting as if he believed that there actually were some questions that Rotsard left out.
"Were there…? I mean, ARE there more than six pages and forty questions?"
The teacher's act caused Rotsard to feel weirded out, and he ended up inquiring.
"Wha-what…? No. There were exactly forty questions all in all, including…"
"In that case, I finished all of them. Have a nice day."
Taken aback, the teacher muttered and first shook his head only to nod right after, making Rotsard shrug his shoulders, interrupting the teacher to repeat himself, and leave with his original confidence back.
