Chapter 122 - Chapter 6 (Part 3)

"Even teacher Mivoress isn't certain that upperclassman Treedor will ever walk again…"

Later that day, Justin just about finished relaying the entirety of the situation that occurred to the grim-faced Amelia.

"...and you're saying it was Rotsard who ended up taking him to the hospital wing…?"

The fair-haired girl crossed her arms and inquired while squinting her eyes, staring into the distance.

"That's right… with the usual noise during the lunch break, basically no one inside the building noticed the sound of the window breaking and upperclassman Treedor falling through. His injuries were so severe that he couldn't even properly scream either from pain or for help. If… that guy… hadn't carried upperclassman Treedor to the hospital wing himself, once upperclassman Treedor would eventually get discovered, it might have been too late for any help…"

Justin nodded as his expression turned dark and he clenched his fists.

"But Rotsard was also the person who caused all of that, wasn't he?"

"THAT'S RIGHT! That…! That trash said so himself! He was annoyed, so he attacked upperclassman Treedor from behind! Without any proper reason! How can anyone be so evil and shameless!?"

"..."

The future hero was seething with righteous rage≤ but the girl next to him only furrowed her brows and looked to the side.

"...he still hasn't recovered his natural mana barrier, has he?"

"Eh? No, upperclassman Treedor's mana barrier works just fine."

Amelia muttered to herself, taking Justin by surprise and making him reassure her in a hurry.

"..."

"...o-ohh… you didn't mean him…"

But after a particularly sour glare he received from the noble girl, the commoner student flinched and grumbled under his breath.

"If he was already in contact with a deofol, without a natural mana barrier, he would not be able to hide the pollution of gedwyld…"

"But he's certainly evil enough to be one himself!"

Amelia breathed out and pointed out, clearly sensing something off about the whole thing… but ended up being cut off by the exasperated Justin.

"..."

"...sorry…"

Which earned the future hero yet another glare, causing him to lower his head and mutter an apology.

"You do know that you CAN challenge him for a duel. You will have to wait in line to get your turn, of course, but if you started hating him that much, it's well within the story that I was bestowed by a Grand Fae, that this is another moment in which you can beat him up."

After another sigh, Amelia tilted her head to the side and pointed out.

"...or are you scared…?"

"Of course I'm not! I beat him up once, and I can do it again!"

She asked, and the future hero straightened his back and declared proudly.

"...then go, I wasn't joking when I said that you will have to wait in line, though. Go make the appointment."

"Eh…? Ah! Thank you, Young Miss!"

With Justin still by her side, Amelia furrowed her brows even more and shooed the future hero away with a gesture, causing him to let out a tiny gasp before rushing out of the room.

"..."

…that left Amelia alone, deep in thought…

"He's both acting as he would in the story and not at the same time…"

Amelia muttered to herself before approaching the window and looking outside at the training grounds basked in twilight.

"...if he does…. And still plans to go through with everything without changing a thing…"

She put her hands on the window, about to open it, but ended up hesitating and muttering to herself…

"..."

In the end, she did open it, letting in the refreshing gust of wind and closing her eyes.

"...Butch…"

"Master?"

Without opening eyes, the girl spoke up, and the next moment a grayish-white bird with black stripes across its eyes and wings materialized out of thin air, right above her shoulder, and spoke up respectfully in a completely androgynous voice.

"...you may go check on the guy you were so interested in. Just make sure to only approach him when he's in a good mood. Just today, he destroyed the physical form of another fae seemingly out of boredom…"

Amelia spoke up, opening her eyes but only staring into the distance.

"Thank you, master! I will have that in mind!"

The bird-like fae cheered out and fluttered outside with excitement, leaving its master behind.

"...please make sure to mention 'following a story' to him and gauge his reactio… haaa… An actual birdbrain, that one…"

…causing her to finish her sentence and letting out a tired sigh before closing her window and shaking her head as she headed to bed.

"...either way, at least now I know why Rotsard will be challenged by Mary Treedor to a duel to the death… I'm not bothered by it. At all."

While already on the bed, Amelia muttered to herself, grabbing one of the pillows and hugging it tightly.

"...at all..."

She sighed with an expression of someone deeply bothered by it.

"...the story states that he will kill her, with the setup being that the deofol gives him the taste of power it will bestow upon him once he sells his soul, but…"

Amelia made an upset expression as she hugged her pillow tighter and burrowed her face into it, never finishing that thought out loud.
