Chapter 228 - Burn

Under Kenmyo's strong resistance, Khor-Pharon ultimately did not assign another big bald man as Kenmyo's personal bodyguard.

After all, that guy was also a powerful combatant, and it was better to have more combat power when directly entering the enemy's main camp.

Since the large-scale boarding battle, it was visibly clear that the church inside the opposing Ultramarines' battleship was very lively. Red and blue 'big cans' were clashing, enemies seeing each other with red eyes, all wishing to drink the other's blood.

Disgrace was carved into the spines of the Word Bearers, and today was the day to skin and dismember all these blue-skinned dogs.

A torrent of steel poured forth, and various individual-killing weapons were almost all put into use.

Flames and thick smoke covered the interior of the Macragges Honour, and cruel, bloody massacres unfolded in every corner of these battleships.

This echoed the meteors burning from the constantly falling railgun fragments outside, appearing particularly tragic and heroic.

The surface steel of the Ultramarines' battleship continuously trembled. In some areas, violent explosions were even triggered, and some unlucky individuals could even be seen being blown out from the blasted copper walls and iron barriers, smashing directly onto the outer void shields, their fate unknown.

The other side had already begun fighting, and it was naturally not good for Kenmyo to continue acting as a 'fountain commander.' He had to do something, otherwise the Ultramarines' casualty ratio would only continue to rise.

"You guys hold on!"

Kenmyo and they were in the same boat; the heavier the casualties on the Ultramarines' side, the lower the reward he would receive.

So he had to do something first to lower the Ultramarines' casualty ratio, and instead make the Word Bearers completely lose hope of turning the tide, only to be overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of those 'blue elves.'

He temporarily disconnected from his Primarch 'netizen' and walked out of his lounge into the corridor.

He found that the number of people on the battleship had drastically decreased compared to the previous 'one post every ten steps, one sentry every five steps' arrangement.

When he arrived at the bridge and looked down, there seemed to be only a few Word Bearers left responsible for guarding the ship. As expected, they had all gone to participate in the boarding battle.

Even though directly ramming with the battleship might destroy many ships, they insisted on using the most ancient and simple method of combat. Perhaps this was the romance of the Warhammer World.

Upon seeing the Adeptus Mechanicus Sage specifically cared for by Khor-Pharon, the few stationed Word Bearers astartes even bowed their heads in greeting.

Kenmyo also nodded in response.

He believed that if Khor-Pharon hadn't sent a squad of Word Bearers to protect him, all the Word Bearers on all the battleships might have boarded the Ultramarines' ships to engage in the purest form of hand-to-hand combat with the Ultramarines.

After all, they had been waiting a long, long time to wash away this humiliation.

Even the Word Bearers Dreadnoughts, kept in 'cans,' were about to be deployed to the battlefield. According to Kenmyo, at least 300 units had been revived.

All of them were on this False Emperor ship. How did he know so clearly?

Because all 300 Dreadnoughts were awakened by him, and he performed the weapon censing ritual for them.

Dreadnoughts are not like other types of Astartes Monks; they are the Empire's most loyal and fearless warriors, each one a remarkable hero.

These astartes are often the elders of the Chapter, the original martyrs who suffered irreparable injuries during the Great Crusade and even more ancient battles.

Disabilities like lost limbs were considered minor injuries; on them, the pain was usually too immense for ordinary Astartes Monks to bear, making it almost certain they could not return to the battlefield.

Fortunately, a cruel war machine called the Dreadnought gave them one last chance to fight.

When the Legion needed them, they would be awakened from stasis, fixed in a cramped internal space in an extremely painful fetal position, with their skeletal nerves directly connected to the machine's apparatus. Everything was controlled by these heroes.

This was their last time on the battlefield, as their original injuries meant their bodies could not sustain large-scale strenuous activity, which would accelerate their death.

Dreadnoughts can only die on the battlefield, and the Dreadnought chassis outside will be their final tombstone.

Therefore, even the Word Bearers' Dreadnoughts were loyal to the Emperor.

To make these loyal veterans believe that pointing their guns at their former comrades was righteous, it was only possible by portraying those blue-colored 'blue elves' as traitors who had betrayed the Empire.

As for why they didn't use the power of Chaos to corrupt them, or even heal their disabilities?

Chaos power is also selective; some individuals would rather commit suicide than be tempted by Chaos.

Do not doubt the loyalty of these Dreadnoughts, so to preserve their strength as much as possible, a gentle approach was paramount.

Khor-Pharon did exactly that.

While Kenmyo was awakening them, the big bald man stood by, continuously spreading false ideologies like a cult leader trying to brainwash people.

In front of these Dreadnoughts, the Ultramarines were portrayed as having severely deviated from the Imperial faith, becoming heinous villains.

But before you do that, can you please remove those blasphemous runes against the Emperor from your power armor?

Kenmyo found it so dramatic he wanted to kick him, so he simply blasted Khor-Pharon away on the grounds of obstructing the ritual.

He hadn't forgotten his original intention: to unite all forces that could be united. These Dreadnoughts before him were precisely the strongest force he could unite.

They were Imperial veterans, who would undoubtedly shed their blood for the Empire without a second thought. Although they had just woken up from centuries of slumber and might still be a bit slow-witted.

So Kenmyo implanted something akin to hypnosis in their minds: as long as they pulled the trigger on the Ultramarines, his words would echo in the minds of the Dreadnought operators.

Explaining to them exactly what the current situation was, and what they could do.

Dreadnought boarding seemed a bit more troublesome than that of ordinary astartes, so the Word Bearers had to be deployed first, and then the Dreadnoughts would be teleported, which made his arrangement feasible.

If the Ultramarines were to face that specific number of Word Bearers alone, it would definitely be a difficult fight, even though they were fighting on home ground.

But with an additional 300 Dreadnoughts, the situation would be different.

Dreadnoughts would only stand on the side of the Empire, unless their minds were corrupted by evil Chaos power; otherwise, they would only fight for their faith, which was the Emperor.

Kenmyo was on his way to the main control room when he suddenly sensed something vibrating outside, and this power seemed to be directly affecting the Warp.

"Hmm?"

It seemed to transcend space and time, directly affecting the nearby space. He could see the outside through the battleship's external glass.

It was a huge screen.

It seemed to be some kind of Psychic Spells for live projection.

Soon, a being whose physique was comparable to the Macragges Honour was directly projected into the void under the influence of this Psychic Spells.

This colossal figure was clearly a special model of Word Bearers power armor, indicating a high rank, and he was also a bald man.

The bald man's face was filled with madness, and the aura of Chaos around him was extremely strong. Behind him, there also seemed to be, no, it was a slaughterhouse ten thousand times more bloody and terrifying than here.

Kenmyo frowned as he watched all this;'slaughterhouse' might not even be enough to describe the evil unfolding.

Because those astartes were actually slaughtering civilians; their actions were almost indistinguishable from Chaos Daemons.

Two distinctly different types of astartes could be seen, madly charging at the Astra Militarum and Ultramarines who had their hands behind their backs.

Especially those blood-red astartes, whose actions were far more brutal and violent than the Word Bearers, and they seemed stronger, possessing even more terrifying power.

Almost a single charge could overturn a heavy armored vehicle, then drag out all the drivers and tear them to shreds one by one.

Chaos Daemons also joined this feast of slaughter; everywhere were scenes of dismembered limbs, rivers of blood, a cruel and tragic spectacle.

"Yo, Guilliman."

Kenmyo even seemed to hear an additional phrase afterwards, "Haven't seen you in days, you've gotten so weak."

The arrogant Word Bearers Legion Master looked down at the massive and constantly exploding Macragges Honour, his expression full of mockery.

Only Lorgar Aurelian, also a Primarch, would call a Primarch by his first name like that.

Robert Guilliman roared upon hearing this, and like a god descending from heaven, he directly sent all six Word Bearers who were encircling him flying.

He also shouted his enemy's name at the colossal figure in the sky.

"Lorgar Aurelian!"

Robert Guilliman stared intensely at the figure in the sky, his eyes wide with rage.

His former brother had become a stranger; in fact, Robert Guilliman wished he could kill him.

If not for this bastard, how could the Ultramarines have suffered such a catastrophe?

Lorgar Aurelian ignored Robert Guilliman's roar from below, and instead, the mockery on his face deepened.

It was as if the person before him was not the one Lorgar had longed to kill, but a stray dog barking at him from the roadside.

"Guess where I am now?"

"Here's a small hint."

Lorgar Aurelian had his subordinates bring over what was already prepared, intending to broadcast some footage directly in front of all the Ultramarines on these battleships.

"You should be very familiar with this guy, right?"

Lorgar lifted a man, covered in wounds and blood, with one hand and placed him directly in front of the camera.

If one looked closely, they could still see some blue ceramite fragments on his body. If examined carefully, it would be discovered that all his bones had actually been broken, which was why he appeared so limp.

He was broken in half at the waist, his lower body gone. His eyelids had also been cut off, leaving him only able to glare fiercely at Lorgar.

He tried to open his mouth, but no sound came out.

Because his tongue had also been cruelly cut out, he could only express silent rage.

Kenmyo looked at the shocking wounds and didn't want to see this guy because he was too severely injured, basically covered in wounds and subjected to endless torment.

Robert Guilliman saw the man Lorgar held in his hand. Although he was covered in wounds and swollen, he immediately recognized him as his subordinate.

He was a company commander of the Ultramarines stationed in the 500 Worlds.

Robert Guilliman's pupils suddenly constricted, and he suddenly thought of a terrifying truth he dared not contemplate; all the blood in his body froze.

"It seems you, you useless wretch, have already figured it out," Lorgar said with a smile, casually tossing the Ultramarines man to a nearby Word Bearer.

Lorgar tossed the man belonging to the Ultramarines to a nearby Word Bearer, saying with a smile,

"Do you think I would use all the Word Bearers' battleships just to deal with you?"

"You are greatly mistaken, my brother."

Lorgar Aurelian could no longer suppress the cruel smile on his face, revealing a terrifying and wild grin.

"Your 500 Worlds are what I truly want to destroy."

Why were the Ultramarines so terrifyingly numerous? It was because they governed many worlds, with these star systems adding up to roughly 500 Worlds.

This allowed the Ultramarines' troop reserves to feel like an endless, continuous supply.

Every planet massacred was like digging at the Ultramarines' lifeblood.

Robert Guilliman's worst-case scenario had come true: the enemy had split into two forces, one to tie down their main army here.

The other was to attack the 500 Worlds. Because he had brought most of his forces here, the Ultramarines' main base had very few remaining troops.

They simply couldn't withstand the attack there, and the casualty rate was terrifyingly many times worse than here, because that side consisted mostly of civilian worlds.

And that side was suffering a dual assault from astartes and Chaos Daemons. One could only pray they didn't kill too quickly, and didn't directly use cyclone torpedoes, otherwise these 500 Worlds wouldn't be enough for the cyclone torpedoes to blast.

These guys, like Kenmyo, were beasts. After completely falling to Chaos, they lost all humanity.

He had now arrived at the main control room; there weren't too many Word Bearers monitoring it, about 15 in total.

After Kenmyo walked in, they looked at him with strange eyes, seemingly curious. What was the Adeptus Mechanicus Sage doing in the bridge room?

But all Kenmyo did was completely close the metal door behind him, then turn his gaze to those Word Bearers, while a dozen thick mechanical claws extended various weapons from his back.

All those weapons gleamed coldly, looking quite terrifying. Each weapon was a special creation of the Adeptus Mechanicus, exclusive equipment.

Kenmyo's mechanical bionic eyes looked at the group of Word Bearers, revealing a cold smile.

"He who kills, shall be killed."

Control of the False Emperor was essential, otherwise his subsequent plans could not be carried out.

If the Word Bearers were merely dispersed throughout this battleship, their numbers weren't actually that many. If he seized control of this battleship, it would be equivalent to cutting off their retreat.

Kenmyo and the Ultramarines, working together, could trap the Word Bearers like a turtle in a jar, closing the door to beat the dog.

The weapons used by the Word Bearers were also what he had'soul-dived' into, so he could influence their usage to a certain extent.

Therefore, he had to kill all these astartes before him and completely gain control of the largest battleship among the Word Bearers.
