Chapter 84 - Chapter 84

"You guys hide; I'll see what's going on."

After Lynn finished speaking, he signaled William, Edgar, and Ollie to retreat to a safer corner of the dormitory, while he cautiously approached the black diary on the desk.

He picked up the quill William had dropped earlier, dipped it in ink, and began to write on the blank pages of the diary:

(It is now September 1, 2868. I have arrived at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and have been sorted into Azkaban Academy. I have finally enrolled!)

As the nib left the paper, the handwriting slowly seeped into it.

Lord Voldemort's soul fragment had just felt the diary being closed. Having waited in loneliness for who knows how long, he finally felt the diary reopen and a new passage of text injected into it.

He "watched" the text, and a rare moment of stagnation and... bewilderment occurred.

The year 2868?! Over eight hundred years had passed since the last time he spoke to someone?! This absurd span of time was difficult for him to comprehend for a moment.

Hogwarts was still there? But what was Azkaban Academy? Had the times changed so much that even the house divisions had been altered?

The massive impact of information made him decide to hold his position for now: he would wait and see; this new contact seemed... a bit different.

Seeing that no new handwriting appeared in the diary, as if it were dead, Lynn continued to write, playing the role of a "distressed freshman":

(I'm so depressed today. Why is magic so hard to learn... I feel so stupid.)

This "outpouring of emotion" seemed to trigger some sort of response mechanism in the diary.

On the blank page, handwriting finally surfaced again:

(Have you encountered some problems? I can help you.)

Lynn had no interest in playing "Agony Aunt" with a notebook of unknown origin.

He wrote straightforwardly:

(You can help me? Who do you say you are? Why are you trapped in a diary?)

The diary seemed to have prepared its draft long ago as the handwriting appeared:

(I am the first owner of this diary. You can call me Tom.)

(This is not imprisonment, but a memory projection I left inside. When I feel bored, I can use it to talk to the outside world and pass the time.)

(May I ask what your name is?)

Lynn: Tom? Memory projection? Guess if I believe you?

Lynn continued to fabricate nonsense without hesitation:

(My name is Saurus Carrow.)

Lord Voldemort: The Carrow Family? One of the Sacred Twenty-Eight... Although there are many branches, they can be utilized. Good, first step: build rapport.

The handwriting changed again, and the tone seemed a bit "gentler":

(Hello, Carrow. You seem to have encountered some trouble with magic? Why not be specific? Perhaps I can provide some suggestions.)

(It's like this...) Lynn began to casually make up several "difficult problems" regarding the details of Switching Spells and the principles of Vanishing Spells, writing them in a way that made him look exactly like a troubled apprentice.

The diary also "dutifully" began to answer them one by one. The handwriting was clear, and the logic was rigorous, showing its owner's profound attainments in magic.

Lynn noticed that as the explanations progressed, the ink color of the handwriting appearing in the diary seemed to be fading at an extremely slow rate.

When Lynn threw out the fourth "difficult problem," the diary's response became sluggish, and the handwriting was significantly lighter:

(I'm sorry, Carrow, my remaining energy is low. I'm afraid I can't answer any more questions for you.)

Lynn saw that before he could fish out any substantial information, this thing had "run out of battery"? How could that be allowed!

(Then how can you replenish your energy? Tell me, I can help you!)

Lord Voldemort (Soul Fragment): Haha! Hooked as expected! Greed is always the easiest weakness to exploit.

(I only need some life energy as a supplement. Even a small amount of blood will do. Any creature's blood is fine; just a little bit is enough.)

(Don't worry, I'll go find some for you right now!)

After Lynn finished writing this last sentence, with a "snap," he closed the diary decisively and clamped it shut tightly.

Lynn turned around and said seriously to his three roommates, who were watching him: "From now on, no one is to open this diary again. It's not a good thing; it's very sinister."

"What exactly is this thing?" William asked, looking at the black diary with lingering fear.

"A very dangerous Dark Arts item. It houses some kind of... consciousness or soul fragment."

Lynn briefly stated his judgment. "It disguises itself as a friendly mentor, inducing the user to rely on it, and eventually demands life energy."

"This thing is too sinister. It has research value, but the risk is extremely high. You must not touch it."

Hearing Lynn's clear warning and explanation, Edgar and Ollie completely lost their curiosity and nodded one after another.

Whoever wanted to touch something that could write by itself and take lives could go ahead; they would stay far away from it.

Lynn climbed back into his trunk.

He needed to prepare some "fuel" for this "Mr. Tom."

"Levi, undo the seal on that tall, thin wizard."

"Okay~ Master!" Levi gave a clear cry and waved her wings. Several streaks of light sank into the seal, and the complex seal peeled away layer by layer like a living thing.

With the seal removed, a tall, thin wizard wearing tattered black robes slowly opened his eyes.

His eyes were confused at first, then he regained his senses. The moment he saw Lynn, a look of horror and resentment appeared on his face, and he instinctively tried to struggle and resist—

However, Lynn's wand was already pointed at him.

"Stupefy!"

A spell hit accurately. The tall, thin wizard's eyes rolled back, and he fell straight to the ground, losing consciousness.

Lynn stepped forward and expressionlessly made a light slit at his throat with the tip of his wand. A significant wound appeared, and blood immediately gushed out.

Lynn took out a prepared large crystal vat and carefully collected it.

The flow of blood gradually slowed until the last drop was drained. The wizard on the ground twitched slightly and then fell silent.

Lynn thought to himself: Leaving them alive back then was indeed a wise choice; it's coming in handy now.

"Master~ He... seems to be gone."

Levi sensed the wizard on the ground and confirmed that the aura of life had completely vanished.

"I know."

Lynn answered calmly, corking the crystal bottle filled with blood. "Destroy it. I'll take some blood; save the rest. The body... along with the traces, clean it all up."

"Okay~ Master."

Levi spread her wings, and pure Astral Fire poured down, instantly enveloping the body of the tall, thin wizard.

The flames leaped, but they did not ignite anything else; they were focused solely on incinerating the target.

After a while, the fire went out, and the ground was empty. Not even a trace of ash was left, as if that person had never existed.
