Chapter 94 - VS Elekid!

Chen Mo's decision sparked intense debate in the livestream.

[This was reckless, Mo. You could've easily dealt with Elekid—why agree to Pichu's request and let it fight alone? Totally irrational.]

[Yeah, this isn't the time to be willful. Mo's spoiling Pichu too much.]

[Elekid looks nasty. Mo might actually crash and burn this time.]

"Biri?"

Elekid looked at Pidgeotto rising into the air, clearly choosing to withdraw from the fight, and a trace of confusion crossed its small face.

The human actually agreed to that Electric-type Pokémon called "Pichu"?

Fine by me.

Elekid curled a finger at Pichu in blatant provocation.

It was going to teach Pichu a lesson it would never forget.

"Pichu, stay calm."

Seeing this, Chen Mo softly reminded Pichu from behind, in his role as Trainer.

Elekid was arrogant—but it truly had the capital to be, at least against Pichu.

Its base stats were far higher, and its skill pool was much broader. For Pichu, this was an opponent as troublesome as they came.

Looks like I'll have to use that approach…

Seeing Pichu still not attacking, Elekid grew impatient.

It rolled its shoulders as dazzling electricity gathered at the twin horns on its head.

"Pichu—dodge!"

With Aura fully expanded, Chen Mo's focus sharpened to the extreme. The instant Elekid's movements changed, the evasion command was already out.

Sure enough—

As Pichu darted aside, a bolt of electricity blasted past, smashing into the ground where Pichu had just been standing.

"Don't stop! Pichu—use Quick Attack!"

Before coming to the Viridian Forest, Chen Mo had spent time training Pichu's limited move set. As for Quick Attack, a move it had picked up by learning from Pidgeotto, Pichu could now use it with considerable proficiency.

Understanding Chen Mo's intent, Pichu burst into motion the instant it landed, sprinting on all fours as its body turned into a streak of white light, charging straight at Elekid—faster and faster.

Facing the Pichu rushing directly at it, Elekid sneered. It raised its right hand as blinding electricity gathered in its fist.

Thunder Punch!

A move it had painstakingly mastered through countless challenges—Elekid was confident that if Pichu dared crash in with Quick Attack, it would gladly trade some damage to make Pichu taste the power of this strike.

"Biri!"

The distance closed, Elekid's grin widening.

Come on, idiot!

Judging the range, Elekid slammed its fist down. Brilliant lightning erupted in that instant.

However—

The Pichu charging straight at Elekid suddenly made a sharp turn, abandoning the attack entirely and instead began circling Elekid at high speed.

"Biri?!"

Question marks practically popped over Elekid's head.

Quick Attack?

I can do that too!

Just as Elekid activated Quick Attack to give chase, it abruptly realized something was wrong—

It couldn't keep up with Pichu's burst speed.

"Bet paid off!"

Seeing this, Chen Mo finally loosened his tightly clenched fists.

While reality didn't have the game's four-move-slot restriction, move proficiency was very real.

For Elekid—who had already mastered higher-tier same-type moves—Quick Attack was something it had long stopped relying on. Its proficiency had fallen far behind Pichu's at this stage.

"Biri!"

Abandoning Quick Attack as a means to decide the match, Elekid glared at the constantly darting electric mouse, anger boiling over.

If one Thunder Punch isn't enough, then I'll throw two!

For Elekid, retreat had never been an option.

Electricity surged into its fist again—another Thunder Punch—but Pichu, staying in constant motion, reacted quickly and dodged once more.

"As expected…"

From Elekid's sudden ambush on Sawsbuck earlier, to its behavior upon waking, it was clear this Pokémon had a notoriously volatile temper.

Under Pichu's Quick Attack harassment, it was bound to keep lashing out.

And that played right into Chen Mo's plan—to drain Elekid's stamina.

Calmly observing Pichu as it continued to bait Elekid into attacking, Chen Mo called out warnings whenever Elekid prepared a different move.

This strategy came from inspiration drawn from Ash's battle against Lt. Surge—Pikachu versus Raichu.

Raichu, having evolved hastily, had abandoned high-speed techniques. Pikachu, the weaker one, used speed-based moves to control the fight and ultimately won an uphill battle.

Since Pichu hadn't yet learned Agility, Chen Mo substituted with Quick Attack, a move that also allowed short bursts of high speed.

Still…

Agility really would've been better here.

In animation, Agility and Quick Attack often looked similar, but in reality the difference was significant—not just in stamina consumption, but also because Agility provided a sustained speed increase.

If Pichu had Agility, its situation right now would be far easier.

Watching Pichu dodge again and again, its expression growing increasingly strained, Chen Mo shouted,

"Hang in there, Pichu!"

Finally—

Elekid snapped.

It had had enough of being toyed with.

Its arms rotated again.

Violent electricity burst from its horns, blooming like a thunderous flower.

"It's Discharge! Watch out, Pichu—evade!"

For an Elekid still in its juvenile stage, Discharge was its only large-area damage move—and because of the massive energy cost, it rarely used it.

But compared to being worn down endlessly, it chose to go all in.

The thunder-flower bloomed completely.

Golden electricity erupted from Elekid's entire body.

Arcs of lightning swept across the field, sealing off Pichu's movement routes.

Under such dense electrical coverage, even though Pichu did everything it could to dodge, its stamina was already heavily depleted.

A flash of lightning struck—

And finally landed cleanly
