She opened the door as soon as the bell rang.
Gregory stepped inside without a word. She closed the door behind him while he walked over and sat on the couch. The sadness she had seen earlier still lingered in his eyes.
Scarlet took the seat across from him. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Finally, she reached across the space between them and slipped her hand into his.
"Gregory... you're my moonally. You saved me, and I'll always be grateful for that. I care about you. I really do."
He looked down at their joined hands before lifting his eyes to hers.
"I want more than that."
She blinked in surprise.
"You want more than that? What exactly do you want?"
His fingers tightened around hers.
"I feel like I've known you forever, even though it hasn't been that long." A faint smile touched his lips before it disappeared. "I really like you, Scarlet. I want you to be my moonmate."
Her heart skipped, but she slowly shook her head.
