Chapter 29 - Chapter 30: Above the Noise

As Jia and Shini stepped out of the suffocating atmosphere of the classroom,

the open air of the corridor felt like a blessing.

However, Jia's body was still reacting to the confrontation;

her breath was shallow,

coming in short,

uneven gasps.

The adrenaline that had powered her through her stand against Sana was now fading,

leaving behind a hollow exhaustion and a lingering tremor in her hands.

Shini placed a gentle, steadying hand on Jia's shoulder, her eyes filled with genuine concern.

"Jia, are you really okay?

Your face is still so pale," she asked softly, her voice barely a whisper above the distant hum of other classes.

Jia took a moment to steady herself, leaning slightly against the cool wall.

She looked at her friend and managed a small, reassuring nod.

"I'm... I'm fine, Shini.

It's just a bit of lingering nerves.

Don't worry about me."

Shini let out a small, breathless laugh, her expression shifting from worry to pure admiration.

"How can I not worry?

But seriously, Jia—you were incredible back there!

You completely shut Sana down.

The girl who thinks she owns the school was left speechless.

I honestly couldn't believe my eyes.

You were amazing.

Jia tried to mirror Shini's enthusiasm, but the smile that touched her lips was faint and strained.

For Shini, it was a moment of high school drama, but for Jia, it had been a war against years of silence and fear.

They were still standing there when a deep, familiar voice resonated from behind them,

cutting through Jia's thoughts like a ray of light

— "Jia..."

Jia turned around instantly.

It was Jinu.

He was walking toward her with slow, deliberate steps, his gaze locked onto her as if searching for something hidden in her expression.

There was a complex mix of relief and protectiveness in his eyes.

As he reached her, he asked quietly,

"Did you just skip class?"

Jia felt a flutter of nervousness.

"No... I was just... after what happened with Sana, I needed a moment..."

She couldn't even finish her sentence before Jinu reached out and took her hand.

His grip was firm, yet incredibly tender, grounding her instantly.

"Come with me," he said decisively.

Before Shini could react or Jia could ask where they were going, Jinu began to lead her away, their pace quickening into a light run.

He led her up the winding staircases, away from the crowded halls and the prying eyes of their peers, until they reached their sanctuary—the school rooftop.

As they stepped onto the roof, the sudden rush of the wind greeted them, carrying away the tension of the morning.

Down below, the world continued its noisy, chaotic routine, but up here, there was only the vast sky and an expansive silence.

For the first time that day, Jia let out a long, genuine breath.

The tightness in her chest finally unraveled.

She turned to look at Jinu, who was watching her with a soft, satisfied expression, his eyes tracing the lines of her face to ensure the color had returned to her cheeks.

Seeing him there, standing as her constant support, a real, beautiful smile finally bloomed on Jia's face.

She realized that with Jinu by her side, the shadows of the past and the threats of people like Sana no longer had the power to break her.

Jinu smiled back, his heart visibly lightened by her joy.

He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, drawing her slightly closer as they both turned toward the horizon.

The sun was beginning its slow descent, painting the sky in vibrant strokes of orange, gold, and soft violet.

In that moment, surrounded by the glow of the sunset, there were no more words needed.

There was no fear, no enmity—only the two of them, standing together in perfect, hard-earned peace.
