I had begun on my new project which would be a little difficult because this project I didn't have all the needed requirements to make this happen.
"Dad, what are you doing? You've been holes up here for a while." Nyx had come in to go over her own research on the spirit body.
"I'm trying to find a way to destroy the soul and convert it into pure energy."
Nyx immediately began to look at me as if I were a mad man, which was something I was pretty much used to at this point.
"Ok, why?"
"Nyx. Do you want to get stronger, and I mean drastically stronger?"
"U-um, yes." Nyx was weirded out by my question.
"Then I need to do this. I'm not just going out and killing people at the moment. I already have all the souls needed."
"Where did you get souls?"
"Remember when I destroyed that planet? Well I made sure to use those souls for something useful. I currently have a soul count numbering in the billions. Ah goddamn it!" I said the last part in frustration as the process failed and he soul dissipated into nothingness.
I decided to bench the issue for now and made my way through Eden instead, about to address my next issue.
I prepped the grayfog and transported to the Sarion dynasty.
————————————————
There was currently a hunting party hanging out in a luxury hotel. Two of them were a Female swordman and sorcerer, Two of them were a male berserker and assassin. The last one was a magic knight with a mask, he seemed to be disinterested with the current state of his teammates.
Until the swordsman asked the magic knight something, "Hey Gehrman, are you not gonna join us?"
Gehrman had declined his hunting party's invitation. Currently they were enjoying some leisure time after a mission requiring the corpse of a dragon. They were about to go out and enjoy themselves, desperately wanting their leader to join them and enjoy himself… for once.
The swordsman was Gloria, a human with Maroon hair and eyes found on the brink of death and then saved and trained by Gehrman.
The mage was Selene, a sorceror and elementalist with auburn hair and gray eyes decended from elves who arrived from the kingdom of Ulgracia that came to Sarion with the express purpose of joining Gehrman's party out of reverance for Pneuma. She came into contracts with multiple spirits created by Pneuma.
The third was the berserker, a lycanthrope named Silas with pale white hair and golden eyes that went berserk near the borders of the dynasty, Elmesia had tasked his submission and execution to Gehrman. Yet instead of execution, Gehrman instead purified him and brought him into his care.
The last was Kael, a vampiric assassin with black hair and eyes that was tasked with ending Gehrman's life and instead ended up restrained by him. He now serves Gehrman due to being impressed by his power and faith.
"I'm good." Gehrman refused their invitation which visibly saddened them.
"You should go with them. Enjoy yourself a little bit." There was a brief time lag between the group agreeing with this voice of reason to wondering who this voice of reason was.
They looked to the left of Gehrman and found a new individual next to him, one that appeared out of nowhere.
Gehrman backed away from the individual at top speed and just stood there frozen in shock.
The rest had already prepared their weapons while Gehrman, the most vigilant, just stood there frozen.
Gloria: "Gehrman! Get your weapon out!"
Gloria snapped him out of his dazed, but instead of readying for some sort of battle, Gehrman bowed, "Lord Pneuma, it is great to see you. Are you doing well?"
"I am, Gehrman, I guess these are your party members."
The party members were stunned for a few seconds and then dropped their weapons. Selene immediately dropped her head and began greeting and apologizing in a histeria, "Lo-lordPneumaitssuchanhonourtomeetyouandIapologizeforpointingmyweaponatyou and and!" Selene closed her eyes waiting for her impending doom… until she heard a giggle.
She looked up and found the venerable God of spirits, the deity that she reveres so much, laughing at her.
The god stopped laughing and walked closer to her and cupped her face, "Hello little one, what is your name?"
Seeing that graceful serene smile instantly disarmed her, "Uh um. It's…it's Selene."
"Hello Selene." Selene noticed after he greeted her, he seemed to be evaluating her, "Wow, it seems a lot of my spirits have contracted with you."
This surprised all of them, he could sense the connections between individuals? Kael immediately stepped forward and got down to his knees, "Lord Pneuma, it is truly an honour to have met you." The vampire greeted me the same way Selene did, but in a more appropriate way.
Silas and Gloria were in too much shock to act at the moment. A god in the flesh standing right Infront of them.
" Milord, what is it you came here for?"
I smiled at Gehrman, " Why don't you show me around Sarion."
"Um, ok."
Now everyone else was shocked again, someone actually got Gehrman to go out, they knew that this was the object of his faith in person, but not even Lady Elmesia could make him do things he doesn't want to.
————————————————
The whole party as well as Pneuma walked through the streets. The hunting party looked like they were on ice, as if one wrong word would be their end.
All except for Gehrman, he seemed enthusiastic that Pneuma came here, but there was still something holding him back.
'Gehrman seems to be quite apprehensive about my arrival, and it's not just surprise.'
————————————————
We had returned to the luxury dorm room, "Milord, did that satisfy you? Are you gonna leave?"
"Of course I'm not gonna leave. I just got here."
"Oh, um, you don't have to-"
"Gehrman, is there is reason you're afraid of me being here?" My statement made the rest of the crew stiffen. Why was Gehrman afraid of his own god, they were probably wondering. "Could you four leave us alone please?"
The four left us alone and me and Gehrman sat across from each other. He was looking very downcast.
"Milord I-"
"Just tell me the reason."
"I'm simply cautious for you, it's rare for you to leave Eden, it's my job to protect me."
…
There's was an uncomfortable silence, I could tell that what he said was a truth but not the whole truth. Gehrman was quivering, he was so afraid of something.
"No, that's not everything, is it? You're not afraid for me, you're afraid of me, aren't you?"
My words immediately made Gehrman's fingers, which were sinking into his legs, sink even deeper. This was confirmation enough for me.
"Why are you afraid?"
Gehrman stayed silent, his eyes looking around the room desperately, searching for a suitable answer.
" Is it because of them?" Gehrman flinched at that response, " Tell what it is about them that is making you afraid of me."
" Milord, you kind of have a history of insane experimentation and using living things as material."
My eyes went wide at his answer, I tried hard not to let out a laugh, " So you think I'm gonna use them for research material. Pfft!"
" Don't laugh!"
I couldn't help it, I fell on the floor and just kept on laughing, even when Gehrman started punching me. I don't know why but something about the situation was just funny to me.
I finally came to and saw Gehrman's face laced with a blush, "It's so adorable, I never thought you'd be so worried about others like that." Gehrman's blush only deepened, "Don't worry, I won't hurt them. I may be a monster but I'm not heartless."
"O-ok." Gehrman finally released a sigh of relief that he had no idea he was holding. He looked up and found his lord showing a doting smile to him, "Is there something wrong Milord?"
"I just never thought that you would care about others so much. I truly am proud of you for finding people that cares about you as much as you care about them."
"I- um."
Gehrman wanted to argue back but I put my finger over my lip, signaling him to keep quiet.
I got up and silently and invisibly walked to the door. I opened the door and the rest of the four people came tumbling down. Before I could question any of them, Gloria had jumped at Gehrman and gave him a big hug, "Don't worry Gehrman, we love you so much too!" Gloria's eyes was enveloped with tears. Gehrman was always so cold to them that they had thought he had never cared about them, but now they had gotten confirmation.
The reason that he had kept himself training and not allowing himself any source of pleasure was not only so he can please his lord but so that he can protect his friends.
