Chapter 63 - Tony's Affection Soars

Chen Ye calmly landed the vehicle and turned his attention to the massive Obadiah's mech.

With one hand, he seized control of the giant machine.

As soon as Tony stepped out of the car, he rushed to Pepper's side.

His eyes filled with worry as he embraced her, as if shielding her under his wing.

Tony's heart pounded with fear. If he'd been any later, Pepper would have been lost forever.

He couldn't bear to imagine a life without her.

Pepper clung to him, as if grasping a lifeline.

A trace of terror lingered in her eyes, and she couldn't believe she was safe.

If not for Tony's warmth and the steady beat of his heart, she wouldn't have believed it was real.

"Hey, hey, hey, just get married right here, okay? Public displays of affection in this situation? Talk about *inappropriate*," Chen Ye said, approaching with a teasing glint in his eyes, though his attention was more focused on the mech.

"Do you want me to handle this, or do you want to take care of it yourself?" Chen Ye asked, looking at the giant mech as he addressed Tony.

Tony momentarily set aside his personal feelings and turned to Obadiah, his eyes burning with fury. "Why are you doing this? I never thought you'd betray me like this."

Inside the mech, Obadiah replied coldly, "I've had enough of you. Why should this company be yours? It's all your fault, you damn mutant friend! Without him, I would have already succeeded!"

"If I can't have what I want, then we'll die together!" Obadiah screamed hoarsely, activating the mech's self-destruct sequence. He intended to take everyone who had ruined his plan with him in the explosion.

Seeing this, Chen Ye immediately used his magnetic powers to lift the mech, suspending it in the air.

He stared at the mech as it gradually turned red, knowing it was about to explode. With a sudden shove, he sent the magnetic platform soaring upward, propelling the mech into the sky.

At that moment, a deafening explosion shattered the night sky. Flames erupted skyward, and a wave of heat rolled through the air.

The entire city was enveloped in the shockwave of the blast. Residents rushed from their homes, gazing up at the fiery ball in the sky.

After resolving the situation, Chen Ye landed with a flourish.

As the sound of the explosion faded, Chen Ye landed gracefully.

Watching the gradually dissipating smoke, he said calmly, "In truth, your plan wouldn't have succeeded even without me."

Clearly, these words were meant for Obadiah, who could no longer hear them.

Standing in place, Miles watched Chen Ye soar freely through the sky, resolving the mech crisis with unparalleled grace. His heart swelled with envy.

He had always longed to possess such extraordinary abilities, to solve problems with such elegance.

He silently vowed to learn from Chen Ye in the future, to continuously improve himself and become someone as remarkable as him.

Meanwhile, Tony watched the mechs exploding in the sky, his emotions a complex mix.

Though he and Obadiah had their differences, they had once been partners. Now that Obadiah was gone, Tony couldn't help but feel a surge of complex emotions.

"Alright, we should head back. I have something else to discuss with you," Chen Ye said, seeing the situation resolved and ready to move on to serious matters.

Tony stepped forward to meet him. "Thanks, man. You saved the day today. Hey, could you give me another one of those magic beans? I want to study them back at the lab."

It was clear Tony had developed a strong interest in Chen Ye's Senzu Beans.

"Let's get down to business first, Tony. I suspect you'll be more interested in this guy's story." Chen Ye pulled Miles, who had been staring blankly, over to him.

Tony sized up Miles, but couldn't find anything particularly remarkable about him.

Frowning, Tony said, "Let's talk in the car. We can't just stand here. I still need to take Pepper home."

Just as the four were about to get into the car, federal government support arrived, led by Tony's good friend, Rhodes.

Rhodes strode over to Tony, grabbed his shoulders, and scanned him from head to toe.

"You look fine," Rhodes said, his voice laced with relief. "You had me worried sick the whole way."

Ever since receiving Pepper's distress call, Rhodes had been deeply concerned about Tony's safety.

He'd rushed to Tony's home, only to find him gone, and had followed the trail here. Seeing Tony safe and sound, he finally let his heart settle. "But you'll need to hold a press conference tomorrow," Rhodes reminded him. "This explosion has drawn the public's attention."

The news made Tony frown involuntarily.

He'd always loathed press conferences, let alone explaining the cause of this incident.

But Rhodes was right; it was his responsibility and duty.

Pepper, standing nearby, clearly noticed Tony's agitation and quickly regained her professional composure.

"No problem. I'll have the team prepare the press conference for tomorrow immediately. Tony will be there on time," she said swiftly.

Tony looked at her, and his irritation eased slightly.

He knew that with Pepper handling things, everything would be perfectly organized.

"If there's nothing else, we'll head back now," Tony said to Rhodes after glancing at Chen Ye.

Rhodes and Chen Ye exchanged a look, nodded in greeting, and stayed behind with the agents to clean up the scene.

On the way back, Chen Ye had Miles recount his parallel universe travel story to Tony. Pepper, sitting beside them, repeatedly expressed her disbelief—after all, it was too incredible for ordinary people to comprehend.

In contrast, Tony listened with rapt attention, his eyes gleaming with intelligence.

"So, this young man traveled to a parallel universe through a spacetime rift created by the collider. I'd love to have a word with the genius who designed that thing—what a brilliant idea!" Tony exclaimed.

"So, can you send this kid back?" Chen Ye asked.

"I can't promise anything yet. I'll need to go back and study this. If I had the collider's schematics, I might be able to build you one," Tony replied, looking at Miles.

Given some time, he was confident he could create it. However, without the original blueprints, it would take some time.

Still, Tony believed that if others could create it with their genius, so could he.

Miles, overhearing this, could only answer helplessly, "I don't have the schematics."

He'd been fighting Kingpin at the time—how could he have imagined being transported to this parallel universe?

Seeing Miles' dejection, Chen Ye quickly comforted him, "Don't worry. Tony's one of the smartest people I know. Give him some time, and he'll figure out how to send you home."

Miles looked up at Chen Ye, a flicker of gratitude in his eyes. He didn't speak, but simply nodded silently.

Hearing Chen Ye's praise, Tony smiled and nodded.

"Don't worry, you'll hear good news soon," Tony said confidently.

Hearing Tony's words, a warm current surged through Miles's heart.

He felt he wasn't alone in this unfamiliar universe, with friends like Chen Ye and Tony by his side.

Finally, Chen Ye escorted Pepper and Tony back to the villa.

Before leaving, Chen Ye pulled out a blueprint and tossed it to Tony—it was the latest-generation elemental technology.

Tony glanced at it and stared at Chen Ye in astonishment. He hadn't expected Chen Ye to possess such a thing; the technology in the blueprint was something even he hadn't been able to develop.

Chen Ye smiled. "Don't look at me like that. Your father invented this. And don't ask me—I won't tell you."

With that, Chen Ye turned and drove off with Miles in his battered car, not looking back.

Tony watched Chen Ye's retreating figure, wanting to say something but unable to. His pride kept him silent, though he desperately wanted to thank him.

But Chen Ye had helped him so much today. Finally, he whispered, "Thank you."

He turned and went back into his villa.

Unbeknownst to him, a slight smirk tugged at the corner of Chen Ye's lips as he watched from behind.

The system notification began to sound:
