Julius drove the cart back to his mansion.
As soon as the guards at the gate saw the cart, they quickly opened it for him.
He drove inside and stopped right in front of the main door.
Julius jumped down from the cart and stretched his arms high.
"Such a long day…" he muttered softly.
He walked over to the door of the cart and opened it with a quiet clink.
Inside, Rosalina was curled up on the seat.
She had fallen asleep while waiting for him. A soft, fond smile appeared on Julius's face.
"She must be really tired," he whispered.
Her body was covered in bruises and small injuries.
Dried blood stained her dress. The pretty necklace she had worn for their date was broken.
Her eyes and cheeks looked swollen from crying.
Julius reached in slowly and carefully slid his hands under her.
He lifted her gently into his arms, trying his best not to wake her up.
As he picked her up, her hands slipped down and rested against him.
