Sitting at the bottom of the box was a dark green leather-bound book which looked ancient and hummed with restrained power.
Ontop of the book sat a perfectly spherical transparent orb with its own personal small pedestal.
" The orb is to determine your magical affinities and get a read on your divine and magical energies.
And below that is the collection of every Forbidden , Ancient , Chaotic , Evil , and dark speck of magic I have ever encountered , mastered and studied in my life."
The explanation from his mother's mouth completely blew Riley's mind and it wasn't even because of what she had said but the sheer audacity she had , to say that with such a calm and serene voice.
'My mom Might be crazy , Maybe her third name is Addams.'
"Don't you think its abit early to be giving me something like this mom , i thought i would start learning magic when i reach 6 years and not a day before that."
At Riley's question , Edith's smile slightly dimmed and this observation made Riley also slightly narrow his eyes.
"What's wrong?"
Edith stood up and carried Riley as a heavy sigh escaped her , "I don't even know how it's possible that you can be this aware and mentally mature at 3 years old.
You really are special bud."
She said this with abit of a sad tone in her voice then hugged Riley close to her.
"I have to go away for a while , it may be a while."
The gift and her statement clicked with the timeframe of his magic studies and Riley's eyes widened at the realization 'Years!!!!!.....she is going for years...what the heck.'
Since his mom had been very accepting of his mental maturity , he didn't hold back anymore so he also didn't hide his intelligence from her usually just explaining that he 'just knew them and had the knowledge automatically'
"You can't be serious , Years? What could possibly....."
Riley's words died in his throat when he saw how her smile tightened and small tears glistened in her eyes. 'Aghhhhhhh why can't I get mad at you , fuck.'
Either she was really good at pretending or his mom was scared of something that she didn't want to tell him about , either way , Riley actually cared about her and didn't want to see her cry because of him so he just hugged her back and kept quiet.
"It's fine , you can go , I'll wait for you to come back mom."
The gift opening continued and the next box had a ring in it which had a very beautiful emblem of a double horned serpent on it.
"You must keep this Ring very well Riley and never give it to anyone you don't trust , it is connected to one of my Magic Bases.
Think of it as your own personal magical bunker mansion , fully protected , connected to you , filled to the brim with everything you need for your magical , Divine , Frost Giant and Panthoen studies.
It is large enough to comfortably live and has enough space to house hundreds , consider this your inheritance from me and I think you will infact prefer this to any silly inheritance."
These were some of the moment when Riley remembered that his Mom was not the standard definition of Demigod and had done some crazy borderline Godly stuff many times.
'Yup all is forgiven , I'm basically being bribed with my own personal fully equipped fantasy man cave. Who wouldn't take this deal.'
Despite his open excitement and joy as he grinned at the ring stupidly , Riley actually felt kinda bad that his mom was leaving.
Wether due to being around his mom alot or simply natural genetic inheritance , his emotions were usually dulled and his mind seemed to over rule everything.
So he was only mostly thinking of the advantages and implications of having his own personal place to train and test his limits. Plus it would give him a chance to actively start growing stronger instead of just remaining idle.
"You need to drip your blood on the ring to bind it and the magical mansion , then you can name it and gain full authority over it."
Riley's smile turned into a frown when he heard that because he particularly hated getting hurt wether intentionally or in an attack or accident.
"Could you do it for me mom , I can't cut myself."
Edith smiled on hearing that gently held his hand then her eyes glowed before a cut opened on Riley's palm which was numb and didn't feel anything at all.
A Drop of blood floated out and the cut closed before Edith guided the drop of blood to the ring and it was absorbed.
Immediately , Riley's mind was commented to something distant as information poured into his mind with a soothing cold feeling.
It was more than what Riley had hoped for , far more.
'She wasn't kidding , this thing can house over 200 people. Seriously how much is she capable of. It reminded Riley of the vast ornate Regal castles of kinds in the old days with towers , Halls and courtyards.
According to what Riley remembered in Percy Jackson , most God's gave their children discarded and weak or simple artifacts as gifts but Riley's Demigod mother had given him a powerful fully equipped self sufficient astle as a gift.
"Congratulations Riley , what do you want to call your castle."
The amusement in her voice was clear and revealed that she hadn't gone into detail about the magic base intentionally. She wanted Riley to be surprised he is getting a whole castle so she didn't say it.
"The Kyro Nova Castle." Yup , Riley totally geeked out on this one.
He remembered reading somewhere that Kyro meant in in Greek because he had at some point believed true Percy Jackson fans should atleast know some Greek.
The Nova thing was supposed to be related to Stars and space which he would easily reach later on and dominate because of his Mutated Kryptonian bloodline.
"What a strange child I have raised." His mother suddenly commented ruthlessly breaking him out of his geek high.
"How can you say that about your own son , you really don't even...." Riley stopped speaking on spotting the slight widening of her calm smirk which meant that she was teasing his childish naming.
Without another word , he jumped out of her lap and grabbed the next gift to open it while facing away from her.
"Does that mean you don't want me to stay? Okay , I'll just finish up packing and get out of your hair."
Immediately she said that , Riley rushed back to her seat and , in seconds , climbed back to her lap with a forced smile.
"Let's open the next gift together mom."
