Outside Creation itself… Ambrose opened his eyes. He immediately felt like closing them right back due to the blinding expanse of white surrounding him.
"Teleportation has never felt so damn stressful." He rubbed his forehead, sitting up with a groan. "Aura? Where did you…"
He paused.
Standing several meters ahead of him was Aura in her physical form. Her silver dress glittered around her like living galaxies, drifting into the white expanse despite the lack of wind.
She just stood still with her back facing him.
No response to his call.
No acknowledgement that he was finally awake.
Just… there.
"Aura?" Ambrose got to his feet. "Aura, are you okay? W-Where are we—?"
The question hooked in his throat when he picked up an unmistakable sound. Something he would've never imagined his oldest companion since transmigration doing.
Sobs.
Aura was… sobbing.
Deliberately quiet so he wouldn't notice. Except he did.
