Chapter 323 - Propagation Realm

Translator: AnubisTL

Three years had passed in the blink of an eye.

Beyond the world barrier of the Giant Spirit Realm, the turbulent energy currents of the chaotic void continued to surge endlessly.

Jieming hovered in a relatively stable region of space, meticulously embedding the final metal substrate, etched with trillions of runes, into a colossal structure large enough to encircle a small planet.

As mental power flowed from his fingertips, completing the final activation and calibration, the lines of the massive magical formation lit up one by one.

Eerie blue light traced intricate geometric patterns across the void before rapidly fading, leaving only faint ripples of spatial distortion.

Jieming sent a brief message via his portable magic net terminal.

Before long, a first-tier wizard in standard gray robes arrived swiftly, piloting a finely crafted anti-gravity aircraft.

The wizard stopped before Jieming and respectfully performed a standard wizard's salute. "Lord Jieming."

Jieming nodded slightly in return and pointed to the seemingly empty space behind him, which was actually enveloped by the massive magical formation's force field. "Zone 73, Void Anchoring and Information Shielding Composite Array: installation and debugging complete. Requesting acceptance."

The first-tier wizard dared not delay. He immediately retrieved a multi-probe scanner from beneath the aircraft and began a comprehensive scan of the area Jieming had indicated.

The instrument emitted a faint hum as data streams scrolled rapidly across its screen.

After a moment, he shut down the device, bowed again to Jieming, and confirmed in a steady voice, "Confirmed. The magical formation is operating stably, and its parameters meet design requirements. Thank you for your efforts, Lord Jieming. The mission is complete."

Jieming nodded in satisfaction and said no more.

He transformed into a streak of light and soared toward the wizard fortress—a metallic mountain range suspended in the chaotic void.

For the past three years, the annihilation campaign against the Triangular Plane Cluster had centered on the second phase of strategic operations.

This second phase had two core components:

First was the "cleansing" mission—systematically eradicating all cities, outposts, and industrial facilities in the giant spirit realm to physically destroy the enemy's war potential and living forces. This was the task Jieming had previously performed and that most mid-tier and low-tier wizards were currently executing.

While this operation itself weakened the enemy, its more crucial strategic significance lay in its ability to firmly capture the attention of the Triangular Plane Cluster, serving as a cover for another, more covert operation.

The wizard civilization's goal was the complete annihilation of all civilizations within the Triangular Plane Cluster. However, the cluster's civilizations had already developed the ability to colonize across planes.

Therefore, the command center deliberately prolonged the war, creating the illusion of "relentless pressure, yet still requiring time to digest."

The purpose was to lure the powerful figures and legions of the Triangular Plane Cluster, who were scattered across outer colonial planes or engaged in long-range expeditions, back to their homeland, so they could be wiped out in one fell swoop.

Meanwhile, specialized wizards skilled in stealth, disguise, and information theft remained active throughout these three years, silently gathering the coordinates of the many outer planes conquered or controlled by the Triangular Plane Cluster.

The second operation served as an "insurance policy" built upon these preparations:

Led personally by Obolos, a seventh-tier wizard who had been stationed in the void, and joined by over ten sixth-tier wizards and vast resources, a colossal composite magical formation was secretly constructed in the vast void surrounding the Triangular Plane Cluster.

This formation had a single purpose: to completely seal off the void region containing the Triangular Plane Cluster.

By severing all possible stable or temporary world channels to the outside planes, it aimed to fundamentally prevent the three Lords of the World from fleeing with their civilization's fire seed or core assets if the situation turned unfavorable.

What Jieming had just completed was a minuscule node within this Grand Blockade Net.

Using a spatial teleportation array within the wizard fortress, Jieming returned to the temporary research camp in the occupied zone of the giant spirit realm.

He walked straight to the laboratory assigned to him.

Over the past two years, the wizards hadn't relaxed their research despite the ongoing military operations.

In addition to continuously refining methods to counter the indigenous peoples of the giant spirit realm, research into the indigenous populations of the other two target planes—the mental realm and the propagation realm—had also been fully underway.

Jieming first approached the side of the laboratory, where a sophisticated energy restraint field generator stood.

At the center of the restraint field, a human-shaped energy entity, its colors and contours constantly shifting, flickered weakly, appearing on the verge of collapse.

This was a sample from the mental realm—an energy lifeform composed of pure mental power.

The beings of the mental realm were naturally adept at thought manipulation and illusion magic, their civilization built upon complex mental networks and mind control.

Jieming pulled up the experimental log, his expression impassive as he quickly scanned through it.

He was attempting to develop a mental virus capable of eroding and disrupting these pure spiritual structures.

However, after calculating the data fluctuations and the sample's reactions recorded in the log, Jieming shook his head in frustration.

"Still no progress..." he murmured to himself.

Despite pouring immense effort into the project, his expertise in mental-type spells remained insufficient.

The disease he had named "Thought Disintegration" showed only negligible effects after ten days of continuous infection of the samples, far from meeting the standards for actual combat deployment.

He could essentially conclude that his research project on the mental realm had failed.

However, Jieming felt little disappointment.

After all, research was inherently a process of trial and error. Moreover, the camp housed numerous other wizards skilled in this domain.

They had already submitted several effective mental-type spells and weapons, and the gears of war would not grind to a halt because of his individual failure.

More importantly, even failed research yielded invaluable knowledge in the form of the vast observational data collected during the process.

After setting the experimental area for the mental realm samples to long-term observation mode, Jieming suddenly seemed to remember something. Frowning slightly, he turned and moved to another section of the laboratory.

The scene here was completely different from before.

Rows of independent, transparent energy prisoner cages stood in neat rows, each containing creatures of wildly varying forms—some, in fact, seemed entirely unrelated to one another.

There were giant beasts covered in thick chitinous armor, resembling insects; soft-bodied creatures with smooth skin and multiple sensory tentacles; birds with dazzling plumage that could unleash high-pressure energy beams; and even bizarre half-plant, half-animal entities...

Their only common trait was that they all originated from the most mysterious plane within the Triangular Plane Cluster—the Propagation Realm.
